June 14, 2024 ordered big red tiller, listed as new. Later saw info on ebay below, in description saying it was certified refurbished. Received tiller with minor shipping damage (handlebar not secure and bashed into packaging, splitting hand grips). Oil leak required repair shop attention. They found many problems, which seller said he'd pay for repair on. It took months to get repair shop to look at it, order parts and repair. Seller initially paid for estimate and initial repair, but stalled on paying the rest of the bill. Ebay doesn't allow refunds after 90 days, and seller used this as excuse to not fund the final repair bill, though he said he would.
Attempts to contact seller resulted in no response. Ebay said he could do rest of refund through ******, but seller unwilling to do so. Ebay order ************. Ebay is saying to contact seller, but seller is not responding to multiple attempts. The "refurbished" tiller was not adjusted to run in forward, had no bearing race on transmission shaft, which was causing vibration and resultant damage to any new oil seals used to stop oil leak. The refurbishing people used permatex or form a gasket instead of the proper gaskets, which the repair shop had to soak in gas to remove, so the proper gaskets could be installed. In emails exchanged initially, the seller suggested waiting for final reimbursement until the final bill from the repair shop was available. This appears to have been a stalling device, until ebay's 90 day window for refund was passed.
