    ******! In August 2024 I hired a local contractor, who I've used before, to do various external jobs on my house. He got estimates from subcontractors, and began the job in Sept. One of the subcontractors he contacted for a quote for the ***************** was Carework Construction. From what I was told, a representative of Carework showed up on our property, handed a business card to my husband, who had nothing to do with any of the work going on, and told him the gutters job would be $1,000. My husband said OK, figuring this guy was sent across the lawn to him by the contractor to relay the quote. Someone from Carework then informed our contractor that we, the homeowners, had hired Carework directly to do the *****************. Beyond giving a verbal, unsolicited quote to my husband, no one from Carework ever contacted us again. They simply showed up and did the job while other work was going on, without ever being hired. They never gave a written quote, there was no contract, they were never scheduled. Our contractor believed they were hired directly, while we believed the gutters were done by one of the subcontractors hired by our contractor. It wasn't until 12/12 when I received a call from someone named Reno from Carework saying he was looking to "swing by" for the $1,000 I owe them. Confused, I called my contractor, and that's when their scheme unraveled. My contractor contacted them, had a heated discussion regarding their lack of professionalism, and how this trick of theirs not only effects their reputation but our contractor's as well. They did the job, so we are willing to pay, but our guy was able to get them to drop the cost to $750. I received a $750 invoice via text, asking that I ignore the $1,000 invoice they had already mailed, which arrived the next day, 12/13, with an invoice date and DUE date of 12/3, and OVERDUE on it. No job date. Product of service: Sales. Description: Gutters Contract. What little is on this onvoice is very vague. ******!
