Customer issues @ Volvo - bad for this brand.
A friend recently lost her husband. She is a school teacher & money is tight. With her husband's death money is even tighter.
This couple have owned six Volvo over the years. They have been loyal Volvo ambassadors.
In January, her husband leased a new Volvo. Had he lived, this lease might have been a luxury but financially do-able. With his death, and her teachers salary, this is no longer the case. She approached the dealership to ask if she could break the lease. The car is only 8 mo. old w/low mileage. The Volvo dealer was understanding, but said they had no control - ONLY Volvo finance could make the decision. Volvo decided they could NOT help her. Breaking the lease cost her $6K.
I was shocked, and outranged. Volvo claims to be family friendly, responsible, - THIS IS SINISTER. When Volvo gets the car back they lose nothing - they get to resell for a profit (off someone's death). This is a careless decision by Volvo - and more importantly, a slap in the face for such loyal customers. No more Volvo's for me - lottos other options.

Volvo USA dose not stand behind their cars. They sell the cars as certified pre owned with coverage and warranty and they refuse to pay for any maintenance. Please everyone don't spend your money here, there is alot of other great car companies elsewhere. I said my honest witness here.

At two different Chicago-area Volvo dealers--Howard Orloff and Fields I experienced the same classic bait-and-switch car-dealer nonsense. I was interested in Certified XC60 vehicles. Both dealer websites offered a "Value your trade-in" link to Kelley Blue Book. The resulting valuation of my trade vehicle was put at $23,500. Ah, but when I asked both dealers how reliable this valuation was, one said they'd offer $17-18,000, while the other said $15,000.

I refuse to do business with operations that indulge in such obvious bait-and-switch tactics. I expected much better from Volvo, so this was pretty disappointing.

Words cannot express my displeasure with having bought this piece of equipment. (“Equipment” is a euphemism for the more appropriate 4-letter word.) I have thousands of hours piloting Boeing 727s, 737’s, 757s, 767’s and numerous other civilian and military aircraft. I have been computer literate since 1982. Never have I tried to operate a more irritating and less intuitive piece of technology than the Volvo XC90 Recharge. The salesman was a perfect gentleman and absolutely professional. My big mistake.

My recently purchased 2020 Volvo XC90 vehicle started acting strange in hybrid mode. Banging sound in the rear and slow to accelerate. Since the car worked fine in AWD and the dealership only has 3 loaner cars the first service I could book was a month away.so I took the appointment.

About two weeks later at 10am my car clunked and lost complete power while in the Belt Parkway while driving in 55mph+ traffic(a turtle signal and engine light). Luckily I was able to drift over to the shoulder. I called Volvo on call and they called a tow. 3 and 1/2 hours later I was still waiting on the side of the road in queens.

Found out issue was ERAD failure. After researching I found this is a common issue among XC 90 hybrids. The fact that Volvo is putting vehicles out with this known defect that could result in injury or death on the road is not just unethical but seems criminal.

Volvo USA refused to support any repair or replacement of an engine with only 71k miles on it despite a lifetime warranty on parts and labor. Car was factory serviced since new, meticulously maintained and driven daily. Design of the engine apparently allows for a mouse to crawl into the inside of the engine housing (not just under the hood) where it died when it was lodged between a pully and the timing belt. As a result, the timing belt slipped completely destroying the engine. Insurance company confirmed the vehicle is a total loss. This was my third and last Volvo given zero support for Volvo and understanding that this could happen on a brand-new Volvo and would not be covered by Volvo. I will miss the Volvo ride and the excellent service from Merrimack Street Volvo, but cannot in good conscience buy another or support the brand given the experience.

I Mean where do I start. This Volvo is absolutely horrendous in customer service in every manageable way they can be. for the last two years every time you try to make an appointment 6 weeks out. This last week i had an appointment that the lady booked for me within a week, i was so surprosed. Then i get sick that week and had to reschedule so i cancel, then i call in and they said 2 months till i can get my car in. My car is flashing ON CALL. I mean how can you have a luxury dealership with such horrendous service. I don't get it. The manager replies to my yelp today saying best of luck there are great other Volvo dealerships. I mean the audacity and the trash service don't even begin to describe this place. Stay away from a VOLVO and stay away from this place MOST DEFINITELY.
My car is flashing on CAll for two weeks and these guys say it's not urgent. 6-8 weeks what would you like to do. Oh we can't do that, so F off. NEver do they give you a loaner vehicle. Never can they get an appointment within a reasonable time frame. When you buy a Volvo it should literally be a disclaimer that if your car has ANY issues at all then you are looking at 2 months to fix it.

ZERO STARS TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE Will be trading in this Volvo and going elsewhere with my business. From the time that I even got the car I received nothing but racism and horrible customer service no matter if its face-to-face in the dealership or calling Volvo customer care I just ran out of gas and I called Volvo customer care for assistance. **** who happens to be the only customer service representative that answers on Call. He rudely hung up in my face multiple times and got an attitude so I will be moving all my business elsewhere. Volvo is the worst car provider and has the WORST customer service ever. This is a darn shame.

Terrible experience at ****** **** ***** ** *********** **. 2023 XC90 Recharge T8 AWD First, was prompted to turn in car early from lease to meet the dealership needs. They messed up on the purchase details and my payment is more than told and we have NEVER received our purchase records as of yet, 3 months later. Second, the new car is a Recharge, we were NEVER shown how to charge car and it took a month for a response to achieve. Third, we were lied to as told in 3-M if not satisfied, could turn the car in, then said they NEVER said that. Fourth, the car rolls backward and forward, respectively after being put in park from other gear. Fifth, etc., the back mats are HORRIBLE as they are like cheap plastic and will NOT stay in place. The Google feature has yet to recognize my name. You CANNOT get the 2nd row seats to move and they knock you out when they finally do. The sunroof control NEVER works properly. The default heat settings have to be redone every time you get in the car. There is no 'Heads Up' display as told. There is no rear hatch motion opener as told. The Lumbar in the Driver's seat is almost impossible to turn and does NOT fit the driver at all. There is not AC in front seats from last Inscription. The gas gauge jumps all over the place, you are clueless how much gas you have. I can go on and on. I have been a Volvo owner for 32 years now and NOW WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER AFTER I AM ABLE TO DUMP THIS ONE. DO NOT SHOP WITH THIS DEALER.
