My son signed up to attend this school from 2024 - 2025 for the heavy equipment program. The cost of this school is $42,000. During this time, all the school did was place the students in front of a laptop to view modules. The program lacked a structured curriculum and offered minimal hands-on training which is crucial in the heavy equipment field. The tools they charged us for, were cheap and never used in the class. Classes were usually cut short which is frustrating because of the additional costs of gas and tolls from NY to NJ. Also, there were hardly teachers available to teach. Students usually sat in a classroom without any guidance due to the lack of teachers and meaningful instruction. My son had to quit because he felt he was spending money commuting to sit and read modules all day, which he could've just done from home. Many parents/students are frustrated and dropping out but still have to pay this school. They complain and the school doesn't care. This is unacceptable. They have many complaints that are going ignored. They were promised a certain number of hours in the shop and in the five months he was there, he was only in the shop five times. I attached the curriculum that was promised when we signed up and he did not get the hours or education.

Lincoln Tech has been unresponsive to my emails regarding a review of my son’s loan account (the below info were email to: T. Mr. S****** on 11/17/24 & CEO Scott S*** on 11/29/24). Despite multiple attempts, I have not received any updates or resolution on the matters below:

    1. Double Interest Charges: From November 19, 2018, to October 28, 2021, my son’s account was charged double interest each month. After repeated requests, a credit of $346.46 for some interest that was applied on October 25, 2021. I would like to clarify that this credit does not represent the total interest that was over charge during that period, the total interest charge is higher.
    2. Loan Payments Post-Withdrawal: Since my son withdrew from the school, I have been making payments for his loan accounts (Account 994995 and Account *******) of $202.00 and $200.00 ($198), starting from October 15, 2019.
    3. Misapplied and Split Payments: Beginning on February 16, 2021, payments received by your institution started being split into separate entries. For example, a $198.00 payment on February 16, 2021, was split into $4.00 and $194.00. The account split has continued through to the present and has caused confusion.
    4. Inconsistent Interest Charges: On January 17, 2024, an interest charge of $333.39 was applied, and later in the same month, on January 30, 2024, another interest charge of $57.00 was added. These inconsistent interest charges are concerning and seem incorrect given the regular payments made.
Furthermore, Account ******* (amount due at the time he withdraw from LT was @ 2000.00) was reported as overdue on my son’s credit report but has since been removed. Upon reviewing the payments totaling for a/a ******* is @ $3,000.00 plus, it appears that this account may have been overpaid....can you kindly complete a comprehensive review. ...thank you cordially * ********

03/20/2023 - 3/18/2024 My son signed up to attend this school from 2023 - 2024 for the automotive program. The cost of this school is over $36,000. During this time, all the school did was place the students in front of a laptop to view modules. The program lacked a structured curriculum and offered minimal hands-on training which is crucial in the automotive field. The tools they charged us for, were cheap and never used in the class. Classes were usually cut short which is frustrating because of the additional costs of gas and tolls from NY to **. I want to formally let BBB know of this scam.

    CASE NUMBER:       ******** *******************************

Lincoln Technical Institute considers the complaint closed based on the explanation below.

*************************, the son of the complainant, started at Lincoln Technical Institute (LTI)in ******, ** on March 13, 2023, and withdrew on February 08, 2024, from the ****************** Technology program. Kian completed nine classes of the program.

The success of the students at Lincoln Tech will require a commitment to learning and discipline to attend classes.  ******************** had an extremely low attendance percentage while enrolled in our program and his results were reflective.

There is no factual evidence to substantiate Ms. ********* claims that our program lacks structure, has minimal hands on, classes are cut short, and the teachers are unavailable to teach.  All of these claims are false.   ******************** did not spend enough time in class to gain the benefits of the curriculum due to his absences and tardiness.

******************** had the opportunity to voice his concerns via a survey that is conducted in each class,or by talking to a member of the administrative staff.  ******************** only completed one of the surveys from the nine classes that he took and gave all positive scores.

The ****** campus of Lincoln takes pride in the quality of education that we deliver and the plethora of successful graduates that are currently working in their field of study and are gainfully employed.  In addition, our automotive program is programmatically accredited by one of the most recognized certification programs in the automotive industry.

As mentioned earlier, (LTI)  considers the complaint closed as our institution provided ******************** exactly what we provided the rest of the students in his class who decided to finish their studies and become gainfully employed in the automotive field.

If **** or ******************************* would like to speak to a staff member to discuss further, either can contact ************************* who serves as the director of compliance and student relations.  **************** can be reached at ************ or via e-mail at **************************************
