    On April 21, 2024, I went to DeeDee African Hair Braiding in Newark, NJ for braids with French curls. I showed a picture of the style to the stylist and she told me it would cost $300. I asked the stylist even if I provide my own hair (5 packets) but the stylist speaks mostly French so I called the owner DeeDee and said to pay $250. The stylist was making the braids to big but DeeDee said she told her to make them smaller. The shop requires that you pay for the service before the service is complete. At the end of service, I was unsatisfied with my hair and showed a picture to DeeDee. DeeDee told the stylist to fix the front. Even with the attempted fix, the hair was poorly done, and even sent pictures to the owner of braids unraveling. I requested the braids be taken out and a refund. DeeDee said no, that I should return to the shop and she will fix the knots on the braids but not the issues of hair being thin and not looking like the picture and braiding parts un-neat. I have called DeeDee to have her fix but she said she will not fix anything besides the knots. I told her that my hair does not like the style in which I paid for. At this point I am seeking a full refund of service as I am paying another braider through another business to fix my hair. If a refund is not provided I will file a small claims case through the state of NJ court system. DeeDee business website also states fully satisfied everytime and I have expressed I am not satisfied and need the braids taken out and refunded or fixed but DeeDee is not responding to my text nor calls.
