Acct #: ******* In September 2022 I went to urgent care in ************* ** for intense groin pain and swelling. I was told I needed to go to the ** for an ultrasound, that night.I went to the *********************** Hospital ** and upon checkin was asked if I had insurance. I replied "yes" because I believed I did. Upon receiving my bill for care, I discovered my insurance was *only* for doctor's offices and I had zero facility coverage (which an ** falls under). I asked the hospital to rebill me at the uninsured rate. I know how hospitals work--when patients come in with no insurance, they are billed at the standard rate, but when you have insurance, the bill is at a highly inflated rate, because insurance companies will fight charges and only pay a percentage of the bill in the majority of cases. That way the hospital makes money on insured patients as well.In my case, I was billed at the "insured" inflated rate, but did not have coverage--I was screwed and the hospital should have (and is fully capable of rebilling at the correct, uninsured, rate). This latest bill for $765 first appeared in Nov 2023 (14 months after the ** visit!)I have called 9 times over the last year and a half and requested 4 different List of Services provided, but have NEV** received one. I just checked my mail and the latest bill has been sent to collections now. This is such a huge scam on so many levels. **************** was repeatedly unable to even answer my questions, the supervisors who were supposed to call me never did, I never received a receipt or list of services rendered, just top line item bills. I received an ultrasound, doctor's examination, and then antibiotics prescription. My total bills to date have totaled over $4,000. as far as I'm concerned, RJ Barnabas is a sad excuse for a hospital run by thieves and thugs.
