I bought a motor for my truck on 1/2/2025 spending over 5k, I had the shipping scheduled to go out on the 15th, I called on the 14th to make sure the motor would go out on set day, it didn’t, they lied. It went out over a week later delaying my whole timeline on needing my truck back. The main part of this complaint is that the motor received was sent with the wrong crank seal, they claim it’s from the dealer but the one my shop got from the dealer is totally different. I left a google review about my unease about the quality they are selling to people and the president Mark reached out to me requesting the invoices and said he would be looking in to it. And also asked for the failed seal back, I informed him I would send him the invoices from the shop and it would have their number listed on there if he needs any part number ect to reach out to them as I am just the costumer in this. He then claimed he never received my email so I sent it again and no response since, I let him know in the following email that I would be reaching out to BBB to have this resolved if I didn’t hear back by Tuesday (which is today) so as of 2:10 on Tuesday I haven’t received a reply or a solution to their wrong seals being sent with engines. I hope to hear from them soon so this can be all removed and we can move forward

    Business Response

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

Thank you for bringing this complaint to my attention. I take all customer feedback seriously and am committed to resolving this issue promptly. Please find Promar's response to this matter below.

To begin, I would like to clarify the product that Promar Engines sells. Our long block engines consist of the engine block, rotating assembly, cylinder heads, timing chain & timing tensioner, oil pump, and a full gasket set. We do not install or supply any external components, such as the oil pan, timing cover, valve covers, or any associated seals. Therefore, while we supplied an OEM (Original Equipment) front timing cover crankshaft seal directly from GM, the seal in question was not installed by Promar Engines.

I can confirm that we supplied the correct front timing cover seal. I have attached an invoice from our Chevrolet dealer that includes Mr. ****** vehicle VIN number and the correct part number for the seal according to his VIN. This part number matches the seal that we sent him with his engine, which can also be verified by the attached photographs.

Furthermore, Promar does not warranty any seals that we do not install. I have attached a copy of our warranty for your reference. When we do not install a seal, we cannot ensure its proper installation. If the mechanic believed the seal was wrong, it should not have been installed. Our warranty also states that all defective parts must be returned to us for inspection before any claims are paid. A representative from our company has contacted Mr. **** and his mechanic; however, we have not yet received the allegedly incorrect part or a copy of the mechanic's invoice showing the correct part number.

Mr. **** **** purchased an engine from us on January 2, 2025. Although the engine was in stock, he requested that we hold it and ship it on January 15. The order was given to our shipping department on January 15 but was not ready to ship until January 16. Unfortunately, the carrier missed our pickup on January 16, and the engine was picked up the following day, January 17. This was two days after the requested ship date, not a week, as claimed. I have attached a copy of the shipping paperwork showing the driver's signature and pickup date of January 17, 2025.

In summary, we provided the correct timing cover seal (supported by the dealer invoice and photographs), have not received proof of purchase for a new seal or that the part number we supplied was incorrect, and have not received the allegedly incorrect seal for inspection. Most importantly, our warranty clearly states that this is not a covered repair.

Nevertheless, to assist Mr. ****, I am willing to offer reimbursement for the seal if the old seal and an invoice showing proof of purchase from his mechanic are provided to us. Please feel free to reach out with any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Kevin C.
    Vice President
