I visited the Princeton Greene Street location on Saturday 2/15/2025 with my family. Here, I purchased a set of Burberry cufflinks for $80.95. However, after I went back home, I found that one of the cufflinks were completely dented and I was not able to push out the centerpiece to attach to the cuff of a shirt.

I called the Princeton branch and spoke with the store manager on duty Saturday night when I realized, and she had said the only thing she could offer is to bring the piece in and could offer a voucher for the cost of the cufflinks. I explained that I live about 2 to 2.5 hours away and also due to the winter storms in northern New Jersey, I would be unable to drive down on Sunday.

I visit this store often with my family, once every month or two for the past 2 years but I would not be able to drive down again to bring the cufflinks up due to the weather and work constraints. The store manager on Sunday, Erin, asked if I would be able to make the trip back to Greene street sometime before the end of this week and I explained that I would not be able to make the lengthy trip this week or for a few weeks. Erin gave me customer service emails to reach the corporate office to find an agreement on how to go about this situation.

I emailed them Sunday morning with the specific complaint and photo images of the item that is defective. They stated that they cannot offer any resolution for this product even if I send the item back via mail to the original store. This is extremely inappropriate to be selling items that are defective and cannot be used. This item was bought for a large price of $80.95+tax and they are stating that there can be no further resolution made.

I would like to ask for a full refund, and if that is not possible, then I would need some sort of resolution such as store credit or a further discount on the defective item. I frequent this store a lot and do not see myself returning if this issue is not resolved soon.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I received a notice from you asking to write to you if the issue gets resolved. The president of the Greene Street company has offered to issue a store credit, which I accepted. I am waiting for her to write back with the next steps but if there are any other issues, I will let you know.

    Regards,

    To whom it may concern,

Outlined below is the issue as it unfolded:

     - Greene Street has an All Sales Final policy, however we do often make exceptions under reasonable circumstances.

     - ******* reached out on September 28, 2023 regarding a Louis ******* bag she purchased on 2/25/2023, seven months prior.

     - The subject line was FAKE LOUIS ******* and essentially her issue was that the coated canvas had logos on it wherein the logos were peeling or rubbing off.  Photos were included. She alleged that the bag must be fake due to this issue and based on her previous experiences with ****************** items.  She wished to return the bag for a full refund.

     - Greene Street inquired whether she had spoken with a Louis ******* store representative to inquire/confirm whether the bag was indeed fake, and in the meantime Greene Street also reviewed DEBORAHs concerns with the Merchandise Team who authenticated and inspected the bag back in February when it was put out for sale.

     - Greene Streets Merch Team provided two important pieces of information:
1.) Original purchase receipts from ****************** were provided by the consignor who brought the bag to our store to sell in February; these receipts confirm the bag is indeed real, as verified on those receipts, and additionally verified by our Merch Team.
2.) Several articles online outline manufacturing defects on authentic Louis ******* items from 2015, the time period noted on the original purchase receipts from Louis *******.
               - **********************************************************************
               - *******************************************************************************

Greene Street then sent the proof of purchase/proof of authenticity and the articles regarding the manufacturing defects to *******, to help ease her mind that the bag was indeed authentic.

     - Greene Street then urged her to contact ****************** as we believe they would be responsible for manufacturing defects regarding their products.

We would recommend that this customer pursue compensation from Louis ******* as it is a manufacturing issue, and not an issue of the bag being faux.

As a second-hand retailer, we cannot be responsible for manufacturer defects discovered by the customer months after they make a purchase in our stores.

    Sincerely,

    ********

    Chief Administrative Officer
