We hired Murphy General Contractors to finish our attic in two phases. In the middle, they backed ** into a corner demanding significantly more money, while we suffer certain health and financial losses, leaving us no choice but to put our family into financial hardship (credit debt) to continue. Issues Unfair business practices / breach of contract / reckless endangerment / neglect causing monetary and physical harm Monetary: ******** over budget, will not stay within the balance of the contract ***** to finish the job (will not even provide itemized receipt or invoice, just provides new monetary demands week by week or threatens to stop and leave it), heating/cooling usage and cost up ****% from last year per PSE&G report Physical: sharp edges (metal, wood), exposed wires, unfinished windows risking water damage / mold, air quality poor (CO2 and VOC high per Ecobee report) due to unfinished space with respiratory symptoms across wife and daughters (5, 2, 2 months)To clarify We would never have begun this project if it was quoted anywhere near *****k, so he purposely priced it at 23k to get us to start, burned through the cash, and when in a vulnerable position (house wide open, suffering) said pay more or live with it There were not any changes made to the project plan nor were there any issues that came up during the course of the project, multiple extensive walkthroughs were done prior to beginning and every aspect has been completely visible in our originally unfinished space (nothing hidden), I spoke to the ******* directly each day and nothing else was reported The contractor continues to exploit us financially Contracted Payments $500 cash $7,000 (wire)$1,350 (disregard, add on service)$4,600 (wire)$4,600 (wire)$3,300 (wire)$1,150 (wire)Total Paid to Date: $21,150 Remaining Balance: $***** (less $125 wire fees)Extended Credit ********************** receipt pictures) $1,934.05 ******** *********** receipt email) $5,234.56 Total: $********

I am rejecting this response because: I believe the actions by ****** General Contractors to be unlawful as well as a breach of his obligations under his license and will pursue this via litigation. The former information was provided in October, when the issue was ongoing, and the current liability is at least $34,267.68+ over the legally binding contract amount. I was materially misled by ****** and Murphy General Contractors and no change orders were provided at any time. Although ****** has failed to provide any itemized receipt for my payments, I have provided him with an itemization of these overages every week.

Let the record show 17+ complains about this business with the BBB.

All of my rights reserved. This case should remain opened until Murphy General Contractors has met its obligations under its license, contract, and ******** law.

    Regards,
