    I scheduled an appointment for my daughter (just a checkup) that was advised by Dr. ********* for her asthma. I made the appointment for May 24, 2023. I called the office on May 23, 2023 at 1:18 pm to cancel the appointment. When I called, I was told that my appointment was today, May 23, 2023. I explained to the office that I scheduled the appointment for May 24, 2023 and had it in my calendar as such. They said that the appointment was in the system as today. They have made mistakes on scheduling frequently in this office. They said they were charging me a $50 fee for a cancellation with less than 24 hours notice. I pleaded with them to please not charge me as I know that the appointment was for May 24, 2023 but I was told to accept it and pay the fee. This is very unprofessional and this fee is excessive. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and I am very upset and displeased.

    ******************* child was seen by Dr. ********************** once on 12/28/2022. *************** called our office on May 5, 2023 and scheduled a follow-up appointment for May 23, 2023. The statement that she made that we frequently make mistakes on scheduling appointments is not valid. Could it be possible that the error was on her part? When *************** called to schedule the appointment, she was told about the $50.00 fee for missed appointments or late cancellations. She was told by a staff member and the office manager that we left messages on her answering machine on 05/18/2023 and 05/22/2023 confirming the appointment. *************** informed the office manager that she never checks her answering machine for messages. *************** claims she was told to accept it and pay the fee. *************** was told by the office manager we cannot waive the fee and reminded her again that we left two messages about her upcoming appointment.  All new patients are given a financial agreement policy with the new patient paperwork. On this policy it states we reserved the right to charge for missed appointments or any appointments canceled less than 24 hours prior to the visit. ************************* signed this agreement on 12/28/2022.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    The office has made mistakes in scheduling. My daughter's appointment was misscheduled in December prior to her being seen on 12/28/22. When this was brought to the office's attention at that time they apologized and said they fired their last worker who did the schedule and she was **nstantly making errors. 

    The appointment for my daughter was made on the day I stated on my **mplaint. The office is trying to say this isn't so, but I know when I scheduled the appointment. Instead of working with me, the office manager was unwilling to accept responsibility for their mistake and instead put blame on me. Furthermore, a fifty dollar fee is ridiculous, especially for an appointment that was scheduled wrong on their part. My ** pay is $15. I'm not sure why this office is unwilling to accept responsibility for their mistake or agree to **mpromise and charge me my **pay instead of a $50 fee (for their error). It is disheartening that this business is trying to take advantage of its patients and unwilling to admit they made a mistake. 

     

    This is unacceptable.
