    I had blood drawn and sent to Medical Diagnostics Laboratories, LLC on 06/19/23. They were performing tests that my primary provider requested. They proceeded to submit it to the insurance company and based off the original claim was denied. After talking with my insurance company they advised that the claim would need to be refiled to ensure that it was covered, but they advised they were having trouble reaching the provider. They also advised that based off the 'No Suprises Act' that they could not currently charge the $150 that is my most recent bill. I have tried to contact the company to determine if they are going to re-submit this to the insurance with the adjusted codes, or if they were going to waiving the $150 all together based off what the insurance company advised. I have not had any luck to talk with somebody who could discuss the invoice. I am on my 3rd notice with them and the notice indicates it is going to collections. I tried to call on 01/9/24 to speak with someone and they advised a manager would need to call me back. I did not receive a call back, so I tried to call today 1/17/24, but received the same message they cannot help me and someone would need to call me back. I tried other numbers on the site, but there does not seem to be a way to speak with someone. I am refusing to pay the $150 until we can resolve whether this amount is truly owed.

    We have investigated the Complaint, had a representative of the company reach out to and spoken with the Complainant and resolved this to her satisfaction.   The Company representative also provided the Complainant with direct contact information should she need to discuss this with the company again.

    As to the underlying Complaint, we have resubmitted the claim to insurance and withdrawn patient billing until such time as her insurer acts on the claim.   

    For the record, we want to point out that billing this patient $150 for an unpaid claim does not violate the "Surprise Billing" law as the Complaint letter indicates.  The patient signed a pre-service consent acknowledging that in the event her insurer failed to pay for the testing, she would be responsible to pay a capped charge of $150 which is well under the actual cost of her testing. 

    We appreciate the Complainant's wish that we resubmit a corrected claim in order to avoid that result and are doing so in the hopes that the insurer will pay the claim.

    With this resolution we ask that you close this matter.

    The invoice clearly shows a credit of $2.52 and they refused to refund

    Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) believes that the $2.52 credit Card Convenience fee was proper for the reasons described in the attached letter response.  Nonetheless, because MDL values its BBB rating and isn't about to argue over $2.52, we have acted to initiate a refund of the disputed charge today.
