My grandson attended ********** kids care and learning center for six months. The culture at *************** care and learning Center is shut up and take what you get, or get out! They seem to lack sensitivity and understanding when it comes to dealing with children and parents that are culturally different from the staff and dont look like them. This environment is not emotionally, psychologically, or physically safe for children. The children who are not targets will learn that it is ok to mistreat others based on race.My grandson was deemed aggressive and violent because he is black. When he displayed the same behavior as his white classmates the school zeroed in on him and punished him, and when other kids hit him, the staff minimized the other kid's behavior. When my grandson told me someone hit him and I inquired about it, one of his teachers responded that he throws toys. Instead of listening to my concerns and responding accordingly, she decided to deflect. I would later see that deflection and retaliation is part of the culture at *************** care and learning center. If and when I raised an issue, the school would ignore my issue and relay their own complaints, the underlying tone was always shut up. The school does not have a culture of mutual respect and cooperation with families. My grandson was dismissed on multiple occasions with *******/snot on his face (these are the actions that plant seeds of inferiority). Each time I spoke to the staff about this and requested that they clean him up. THESE ARE THE BASICS OF CARING FOR CHILDREN. I did not witness any other children being dismissed with a dirty face. He came home with deep scratches on his face, I spoke with three different teachers and each staff member gave me a different story regarding how he was injured.
