    Complaint:

On Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at around 10am, I hired Allstate Garage Door (found through a Google search) to repair my garage door at my home in Edison, NJ. The technician did not provide a clear written estimate or confirm a total project cost before starting the work. I specifically asked if the total cost would be around $1,200, and he gave no clear answer. After completing the job, I was presented with a bill for $5,790 — more than four times what I expected.

Due to financial hardship, I was only able to pay $3,744 and was pressured into a payment plan for the remainder. I expressed that I could not afford the total and asked the company to remove the new parts and reinstall the old ones. They refused. After continued back-and-forth, I told them I believed a fair price would be no more than $2,700. The company agreed on a phone call and issued a refund of $751, bringing my total payment to $2,993.

The issue is that even after the agreed refund, I still paid $293 more than the verbally agreed price of $2,700. This company used misleading communication, failed to provide proper documentation or a clear quote, and only offered a partial resolution after I repeatedly contested the bill. This caused me significant financial and emotional stress.

I am requesting that Allstate Garage Door honor the verbal agreement and refund the remaining $293, and that this complaint be documented to protect other consumers from similar experiences.
