My car is currently with Glasson’s Auto. It has been there for 15 days and they have still not diagnosed the problem correctly and have no clue why the transfer case on ky vehicle keeps going bad. The part has been replaced by Glasson’s twice now, the first time with a new part while u der and extended warranty and the second time I paid cash for them to replace it with a used transfer case with a 90 day warranty. That was in January.
I brought my 2016 Pathfinder to Glasson’s Auto on 8/1/2023 after the car broke down on the freeway. I had the vehicle towed to Glasson’s because it is a local business in my town. Glasson’s had my car for the entire month of August, 2023, stating that the warranty company did not want to cover the costs of the repairs. I fought with the warranty company myself, and eventually everything g was covered in full. The warranty company covered the costs of replacing the transfer case and seals (this is the problem Glasson’s diagnosed the car with), and Glasson's replaced the transfer case and seals. I was told the seals are known to go bad on Pathfinders for no reason. This was the only repair Glasson’s diagnosed the vehicle with. I asked if I could bring the car to Glasson's for regular inspection of the seals and transfer case so that this does not happen again. I was told that is not possible and the transfer case would be good to go or it might go bad again due to the mystery Pathfinder transfer case problem. The transfer case went bad again on the vehicle around the end of December 2024, beginning of 2025. Glasson’s again diagnosed the transfer case as bad. Meanwhile, I am “under water” with the vehicle, I owe about $8000 and the car is worth $5000-$6000. I am a single mother with 3 minor children at home. I am late on my rent every month and this business is taking advantage of me. I was panicked, and Glasson’s offered to replace the transfer case with a used part for under $1000. Now the part went bad in less than 90 days
