This business completed our taxes for us. When we went to pick them up, we chose to do a payment plan for our taxes. They said that a was fine and they told use to sign and that we would hear from the *** about the payment plan. Two weeks later, after not hearing from the ***, we contacted this business, and they told us that, instead of payments, they submitted our taxes for a lump sum payment to be drawn in two days. We asked why this happened, and they were very rude and unapologetic and told us that we would have to contact the *** and our own bank to stop the payment, even though this was their mistake. We contacted the ***, and the *** told us that the accountant has to call to change the payment. We called this business back to tell them what the *** said, and they said they were "too busy," and did not have a "magic number" to contact the ***. They refused to help us and were not empathetic to the fact that they made a big mistake. They told us we signed the papers. Yes we signed the papers after telling them we wanted payment plan. We didn't know exactly what we were signing, and they told us at the same time that they would let the *** know and that we would hear from ***. When I called her out on how she made the mistake and was not apologetic, she stated "I'm sorry you feel that way." She refused to help us even though it was her mistake.

*** ******,I apologize for this miscommunication and error. You have been a valued client of ATAA for many years. Unfortunately, I was not informed you wanted an installment agreement for your 2024 tax liability. This may have been a communication error. You submitted to me the Transaction Summary that was signed by you and your wife. This summary clearly states the date of automatic withdraw, the amount of withdraw, and the bank account number that the liability will be directly withdrawn from. I highlight with bright yellow the withdraw date and the bank account for all my clients to prevent direct debit errors. Because I had this signed form, I processed the direct debit transaction. When you contacted the office to inquire why the *** had not contacted you regarding an installment agreement, you were informed again of the direct payment. Your immediate anger and reaction inhibited me from offering you help. and prevented me from informing you of the options you had in resolving the matter. You told me you contacted the ***, got through within 15 minutes, and they stated, Your accountant must call to stop the transaction. An accountant, or any other individual, may not contact the *** in your stead without a signed Power of Attorney, IRS form 2848 or a Tax Information Authorization, IRS Form 8821. These forms must be signed by you and your wife and take about a week for the *** to process. The *** requests this paperwork to prove that the individual calling is legally designated to call on someone else's behalf. This prevents fraud.I attempted to inform you that the best solution for this matter was to call your bank and put a stop on the payment. You were upset that I could not do this for you. I do not have legal authority to contact your bank in your stead. I offer my deepest apologies for this miscommunication and for the frustration and inconvenience it has caused you. I understand that professionalism, respect, and communication are the core values that drive our success. I am committed to ensuring that such a situation does not happen again in the future.
