On April 19, 2024 we agreed with written estimate, EST-24-403, that would undertake a project to rebuild our outdoor grill area for a total of $5842.51. We paid $2921.08 as a 50% material plus tax deposit on that date. The original quote based on a rebuild could not be constructed as planned. And contractor requested another $1500 to rebuild the structure. He commenced this rebuild and had the countertop measured. When the countertop material was not immediately available we agreed to wait a week to see if it would arrive at the vendor. Our last contacts were May 2 by text and May 3 by phone to discuss that with contractor that he would contact the vendor to check on the countertop. Since that time, I have sent numerous texts and left voice messages for him to contact me and have not received any communication. The current status is unknown. Based on the lack of non-response, we assume he was no longer interested in finishing this project.
My husband and I have decided to terminate the arrangement with him based on these facts. And sent an email and a certified letter stating all this and the info below. As we stand today a fair estimate to the work completed thus far is:
Demo of existing tile and surfacing - $278.44
Cost of materials for rebuild of structure - $200
    Rebuild of structure - $300
Dumping of old tile and backer  - $25
    This is our best estimate.
    Total = $812.44 plus tax = $876.54

Work and materials not done is:
Build drawer support structures, install grill, install old door panels
    Fabricate and install Dekton Countertop
Stone Veneer - Materials and Installation
    Internal Electrical Conversion
Dumping of existing grill and old door panels, stone veneer pieces, cardboard and packing of new equipment
    Project Management overhead
Based on these estimates we required a refund of $2044.54 immediately. This was sent by certified mail on May 28, 2024.

Complaint: ******** (Please note that I rejected the response last week but do not see that in the history.)

I am rejecting this response because:

Nothing was heard from ****** ****** for over 86 days. We agreed to wait for the counter top for a week during our last communication on May 3. No response came from ****** ****** via phone, text, email or certified letter. We did hear from him last week (the day I wrote my response to his BBB letter). But that was too late.

We stand by our original info in the original complaint to BBB. The work done and the material cost was depicted in my complaint. The amount of the check we wrote, the lack of any communication and the amount we need refunded was also depicted. Nothing in ****** ******'s response adressed that.

    Regards,

    ******* *****
