I went to Midas in ************ on tropicana to get an oil change on my ***** crv $55.00 on 8/23/24. On 8/29/24 my car started smoking pulled over to check it out. I pull out the dip stick and it's dry, I'm confused to why this is. The next day early morning I check the dip stick again and it's dry I take a picture and I immediately go by oil. Pull the dip stick out oil is showing up. The owner calls me and says she records the techs working on the vehicles and she can see he put the oil in my car. I inform her I have a picture of a dry stick, she says did I have any overheating problems with my car. Nothing was wrong with my vehicle before this store touched it. Now my air doesn't work, I'm going to put more oil in my vehicle and see what happens but this is what I paid Midas for. This is concerning and disappointing. Them to blame me because it's been 7 days is unbelievable.

Date 7/8/24 None of this work was done to ASE standards. Everything was left dirty, the oil pressure switch was never not reading. It did need an oil change and that seemed to be done properly, but the oil pressure switch was done so sloppily, It ended up causing major problems within my engine. Botls were left loose, gaskets not changed and entire intake was left filthy with oil which should have been part of that service. They hid my ****** review to warn others and assume they will probably do the same here. But I will keep on trying until I get a refund for the oil pressure switch plus labor that ended up costing me an additional $400 to make the car even drivable. No way I would ever take my car back to a Midas, not even for free. ****, the manager even told me the oil pressure switch was a misdiagnosis but used air quotes. He knows what they did. Finally got my vehicle back to FL after multiple breakdowns across the country. Here's what was found per the oil pressure switch and gasket I was charged for. Midas didn't replace the gaskets or clean any of the intake or lifter valley cover area associated with the oil flooding it. It was full of dirt/debris and oil, left there to go into the intake and cause major damage to the engine. Carbon buildup left on intakes when that was the problem. Initial diagnostic was not done correctly. The work they did do was lazy, at best and has to be redone. **** IS awful. The intake is full of oil but they only repaired off of the code without any investigation into what the problem actually is. They replace the oil pressure sensor for $914 promise me it's good to continue on our journey with my 3 kids. One short trip around the block and I know it is not fixed, at all! I head back to the shop.I'm then told it "has to be the fuel pump." I had a feeling it wasn't so asked why the intake was full of oil and how did it get there. I had to ask that question! Then was told it could be the pcv valve and throttle body instead.

All work was properly finished by an *** Master Technician. After proper diagnostic the technician found that the oil pressure switch and the upper intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced along with an oil change. The vehicle came in with no oil in the dipstick noted by the *** Tech. The coded were P0521 and P2635. Approval in writing was given for the repair. After repair the check engine light was off, and the oil pressure gauge was reading properly. When paying the bill, the customer was notified that the work had a 12,000/12-month warrantee on work performed with over 1400 Midas location in ************* (**, ******, and ******) should she have any problems on her trip home. The customer claims to have issues, but the ******************** Family was not given an opportunity to assess the situation. She took the vehicle to a random shop after arriving home. This voided all warranties at this point. The Midas Family stands behind all repairs and warranties.

I am rejecting this response because:

The work did not fix the problem and was done incorrectly according to ASE standards. All your bad ****** reviews state as much, you can't hide them all. You misdiagnosed off of a code only and there's no way I'd let Midas ever touch my vehicle again, warranty or not. This complaint is meant to serve as a warning to other potential customers that your company is bad news.

    Have a great day!

    Sincerely,

Took my vehicle in August 5, 2022 for a diagnostic due to a check engine light being on. Was advised that there was a leak in my heater coil hose that needed to be fixed before a block test can be completed. Upon receiving my vehicle I noticed that there was a broken hose missing completely and was never advise of the hose being broken. When I spoke with the manager and reviewed the video of the diagnostics the hose was there. And upon picking up my vehicle the hose was not there. The manager Aly L**** Was very rude and unprofessional. She stated I can file a complaint with the corporate office but it will be sent to her and she will give me the same answer which is they are not responsible.

    Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/10) */
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this false allegation. Upon receiving the car, it was noted with photo's that the heater hoses were partially clamped off. He was notified before any other work was done. The customer noted he was a mechanic and him and his friend placed clamps so his Air Conditioning would work. This cause the car to be out of original manufacture design specifics. Prior to coming into the Midas, the customer removed the spare tire causing a BCM (Body Control Module) to stop working. This caused the AC to stop working. They did this for his drive to Florida and back. The customer authorized us to remove the clamp so we could do a pressure test. the customer noted the car has overheated. The overheating will possibly cause the engine to blow up, and no longer work. Upon further observation and photographs and video. It was noted leaking from a hose assembly.
At that point it was partially diagnosed that new and corrected heater hoses needed to be replace before a block test could be preformed. the customer declined and the car was released with a bill of $60.00. Photographs were taken at the time of release showing all hose present. The customer later called back and claimed we have "removed hoses". Pictures were taken before work began and when the car was released. This customer called and threaten legal action and filed a complaint with Midas Corporate. The manager, in good faith offered to refund the $60.00 which he declined. After the complaint with Midas it is customary that the customer be contacted. The manager called and again offered a $60.00 refund, which he agreed. He received his refund. It is common in the automotive repair industry for customer to come in and claim small issues then accuse so they can claim a free major repair. In this case the customer wanted a new motor as he overheated and purposely put clamps on the hoses which will cause crack and leak fluid.

    Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/08/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The original complaint was not addressed the vehicle came in and both heater coil hoses were present which the clamps were attached to as a means to bypass the heater coil which does not affect the cooling system of the engine. This can be testified to buy any ASE certified mechanic which was who placed the clamps on the hoses to prevent the heat from coming in to the cabin of the vehicle. Upon dropping off the vehicle the hoses were present after picking up the vehicle one of the heater coil hoses had been broken and was missing. We were not advise that the mechanic had broken the hose and have pictures of the state of the hoses when the vehicle was brought in that coincide with the photos of the diagnostic as well showing that both hoses were there. The motor is fine no one was seeking to get a free motor . The vehicles has since then been repaired and is working just fine. I'm not sure where the spare tire and BCM came into play. I have no idea what that response was about but it just seems like another corporate company trying to rip off another client. Their Google reviews show that this is not the first time they try to do something like this and I would like it to be reflected on the Better Business Bureau score
