School: the ac and heater doesn't work only in my class, hardly any tools, we don't get said tools until after we graduate.Faculty: they're money hungry. Been rude to me and not helpful at all.Teacher: racist, sexist, and have physically seen him walk up to a student and was ready to fight (physically) anyone that has a different opinion as him. Classroom: empty nothing going on bored.Finances: is trash because none of the students or teachers know where the money is going even though it shouldn't be hard to find $22,000.All the students have complained because we want real education and you know what they gave us? Cup of Ramen noodles. Only 1 cup per student then random occasion of small portions of food because they complain about how expensive everything is here in Vegas.I had asked for a 30 day bus pass because of financial difficulties and they only gave me a 15 day pass then denied me from getting anymore bus passes without reason.I wanted to become a mechanic but I see now the best way is from books at a local library and ******* videos.Customer Answer

CASE ID#: ********- *****************************
Dear ***********************,Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by ***************************** to the Better Business Bureau of *************** (BBB). ****************** began ************************* (AT)program at United Education Institute- *********, ** (the Institute) on April 26, 2023 and graduated from the program on January 25, 2024.
************************* Program Prepares Graduates to Obtain Entry-Level EmploymentIn her complaint, ****************** claims that she wanted to become a mechanic but I see now the best way is from books at a local library and ******* videos. ************************* program is designed to prepare students to successfully enter the workforce in an entry-level position in automotive maintenance and repair. This consists of a well-balanced comprehensive program that combines the theoretical aspects of automotive diagnostics with direct hands-on practical training in repair procedures in a shop environment. The program introduces students to basic and ****************************** including engine theory, fuel systems, fuel injection theory, electrical diagnosis, ignition systems, carburetor repair, tune-up, and onboard-computerized engine control. The program also provides instruction in brakes, heating and air-conditioning,manual and automatic transmissions, and front-end alignment. The program is reviewed and approved regularly by automotive industry professionals and the Institutes accreditor. Therefore, the program provides a more comprehensive education than is available by reading books and viewing *******.
Upon graduation from the program, students are eligible to receive a tool kit to help them in their new career field. *************** case, she received her tool kit on January 26, 2024.The Institute Installed a Thermostat in the AT Lab to Control the Temperature
The student claims that the ** and Heater doesnt work only in my class. In the summer of 2023, the Air Conditioning unit was not working properly in the AT lab. During the timeframe when the thermostat was in the process of being installed in the AT lab, the instructors utilized industrial fans and/or would move the class to another indoor lab if necessary. ****************** was an evening student, which tends to be considerably cooler than during the day as there is no direct sun shining into the AT lab. Upon completion of the thermostat installation, it was easier to control the temperature and the issue was resolved.
It should be noted that the AT lab is designed to replicate the working conditions in an automotive service/repair shop, therefore the AT lab is set up as an automotive repair shop with open bay doors as would be found in most automotive repair shops. The environment is set up for the students to work on vehicles as part of the hands-on portion of training. The Institute Investigated Ms.******** Claims Regarding the Instructor
****************** claims that her instructor was racist [and] sexist. During her enrollment, ****************** stated that she had concerns with her instructor. The Institutes Director of Education, ************ scheduled an appointment with ****************** to discuss her concerns in depth. However, ****************** did not attend the appointment and no further concerns were brought to the attention of the administration.
There have been no complaints about the instructor regarding hostility or aggressive behavior. The only issue raised by another student was involving the instructor mistakenly misgendering a transgender student, which was an unintentional error. The instructor was made aware of the issue and it was quickly resolved. The Institute believes that ****************** may be referring to this situation in her claim.Students Must Provide Their Own Meals
****************** claims that the institute gave a cup of ramen noodlesthen random occasion[al] small portions of food. It appears that ****************** is under the impression that the Institute is to provide meals to students. This is inaccurate, as meals are not included as part of a students tuition. During campus events such as Spirit Week, the Institute will voluntarily provide small snacks on Hot Dog Day, Cup of Noodles Day or Nachos Day. These are complimentary snacks that the Institute has chosen to provide but are not required to be made available to students. It should be noted that if a student does not have food, the Institute does maintain a food pantry that needy students can utilize.
The Students Tuition Does Not Include Transportation
In her complaint, ****************** claims that she asked for a 30-day bus passthey only gave me a 15-day pass then denied me from getting anymore bus passes. While the Institute does have a limited amount of bus passes for students experiencing a temporary short-term transportation need, transportation costs are not covered by a students tuition. Students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from the campus. As part of the intake procedure during enrollment, prospective students are asked if they have adequate transportation to attend lab classes at the Institute. It should be noted that the AT program is a hybrid program, where students attend online two days per week and attend lab classes on campus only two days per week. Transportation is the students responsibility and is not to be provided by the campus on a regular basis.
At this time, the Institute has provided a detailed response to Ms. ******** concerns. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely,

I was a student at UEI *********. While in school the pandemic had taken over the world and I got Covid 4+ times. I request leave of absence from the school that was not processed right and sent a loan I thought was paid for with scholarship to collections. I reached out for support and they told me I had to pay it with no job or anything. The school stated we must do full time externship and I had to let go of my job. I had loss a loved one at the same time and no one cared to listen. I am being held up from graduation and my certificate because of their mistake. I dont mind paying the monthly balance but I need taken out collections and back in the contract so I can get my diploma and be done with this school.Business Response

CASE ID#: ********- *********************
Dear ***********************,
Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by ********************* to the Better Business Bureau of *************** (BBB). **************** initially enrolled into the Medical Assistant (MA) program at United Education Institute- ********* on October 26, 2020 and was withdrawn from the program on February 25, 2022. **************** then enrolled into the MA program at UEI College- ********* on January 30, 2023 and successfully graduate from the program on July 12,2023.
****************** Previously Complaint to the BBB was Closed on June 21, 2023
It should be noted that *************** previously filed a complaint with the BBB on June 12, 2023. ****************** initial complaint was regarding transferring the credits earned at United Education Institute- ********* to UEI College- ********* and completing the required externship. UEI College- ********* responded to the complaint on June 14, 2023 and the BBB closed the complaint on June 21, 2023.
**************** has Successfully Completed the Program at UEI
****************** complaint appears to be focused on his experience at United Education Institute- ********* and his inability to complete externship while at this location, which occurred over eighteen months ago. However, since that time **************** transferred his credits to UEI College-********* and successfully completed his externship. **************** graduated from the MA program on July 12, 2023 from the UEI College- ********* campus. Therefore,****************** concerns with being unable to complete externship are no longer preventing him from reaching his educational goals.
**************** has a Remaining Balance on his Student Account with **********************- *********
It should be noted that each enrollment has a separate student account. Although **************** was able to transfer credits earned at United Education Institute- ********* to UEI College- *********, he still has one account for each enrollment. At the time of his initial enrollment at the United Education Institute- *********, ***************** tuition cost was $19,900. **************** obtained a federal student aid loan in the amount of $9,500. **************** was awarded $6,421 in Pell *****s. *************** contends that his student account balance at *********************************** was paid for with [a] scholarship. Had **************** successfully completed his program at United Education Institute-*********, he would have been eligible for a $3,000 New Campus Scholarship to be applied to his student account balance, along with funding an institutional private loan. However, the New Campus Scholarship is only awarded to students who successfully complete their program and graduate from United Education Institute- *********. As **************** withdrew from the program on February 25, 2022 and did not complete his externship, he was no longer eligible to receive the New Campus scholarship which would have covered his remaining student account balance. Currently, **************** still has a remaining unpaid balance of $2,721 for his initial enrollment at United Education Institute- *********.
When **************** enrolled into UEI College- *********, the total tuition amount for his second enrollment was $5,644 which covered the courses that **************** needed to complete his program. For his second enrollment, *************** received a federal student aid loan in the amount of $2,623 and a Pell ***** for $2,298. **************** also received an Opportunity Scholarship from UEI College- ********* for $750. **************** does not have a remaining balance for his second enrollment with UEI College- *********.
UEI does not Withhold Transcripts or Education Verifications for Potential Employers
In his complaint, **************** states he is being held up from graduation and my certificate. As stated previously in this response, **************** has successfully graduated from the program, therefore he has not been prevented from graduating from the program. **************** is not eligible to receive his diploma as he still has a remaining balance on his student account for his first enrollment in the amount of $2,721.
It is UEIs policy that graduates must be current with their loan payments to receive a copy of their diploma. However, **************** is eligible to receive a copy of his transcript which demonstrates that he has successfully completed the MA program. Additionally, UEI is happy to provide a potential employer with an Education Verification, which also confirms ***************** graduation from the program. **************** may contact the Schools Campus ********** ************************* to request a copy of his transcript. *************** may also direct any potential employer to complete an Education Verification request via ************************************ to confirm his graduation from the MA program. It should be noted that receipt of transcripts and/or the Education Verification are typically accepted by all potential employers as proof of a graduates status.
At this time, UEI has provided a detailed response to ****************** concerns. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
***************************

I am rejecting this response because: the remaining balance on the account was from 2020 when the school mishandled my leave of absences request due to having Covid and the death of my mother. The previous staff did not process it correctly and resulted in me being dropped and considered non completion instead of taking a break. The staff has changed twice since enrollment. Due to the nature of the issues and the fact that your job, UEI was not done correctly I not assuming responsibility of the account. Im reaching out to rectify but if not legal action may occur.
Sincerely,

Dear ***********************,Thank you for providing us with another opportunity to respond to rebuttal complaint #********, submitted by ********************* to the Better Business Bureau of *************** (BBB). As stated previously, **************** initially enrolled into the Medical Assistant (MA) program at United Education Institute- ********* on October 26, 2020 and was withdrawn from the program on February 25,2022 due to non-attendance. **************** then enrolled into the MA program at UEI College- Riverside on January 30, 2023 and successfully graduated from the program on July 12, 2023. As we have previously responded in detail to ****************** claims regarding his remaining student account balance, we will only address the new claims stated in his rebuttal.
********** Approved Both of ****************** Leave of Absence Requests
**************** claims that the School mishandled my leave of absence. This statement is inaccurate. ********** approved ****************** first Leave of Absence (LOA) from April 22, 2021 through May 26, 2021 due to COVID. **************** returned to class on May 26,2021. ********** approved ****************** second LOA request from December 7, 2021 to February 8, 2022. As **************** had been on his second LOA during the externship portion of his program, the School offered refresher training for his skills before sending him back to externship. **************** declined the refresher training stating that he was good to return. **************** completed his return documentation on February 7, 2022 and was on site at his externship on February 8, 2022. However, **************** did not return to his externship site after February 8, 2022 and was withdrawn from the program on February 25, 2022 due to non-attendance.
********** has Confirmed that ****************** Remaining Student Account Balance is Accurate
As stated in our previous response, **************** still has a remaining unpaid balance of $2,721 for his initial enrollment at United Education Institute- *********. While **************** contends that the balance on his account is due to his student account balance not being processed correctly, his claim is inaccurate. An additional review of ****************** student account balance by the Vice President of Student Finance and ****************** has confirmed that his account was processed accurately, as the days **************** was on LOA were correctly removed from the calculation used for determining earned student aid and tuition. Therefore, **************** is still responsible for addressing the balance that remains on his student account while attending United Education Institute- *********.
**************** has Acknowledged his Remaining Student Account Balance and has Agreed to Payment Plans to Address the Balance
In his complaint rebuttal, *************** states that he is not assuming responsibility of the account. At the time of his enrollment into the MA program at United Education Institute- *********, **************** applied for tuition funding and agreed in writing as to his responsibility for repayment. It should be noted that **************** ceased attendance at United Education Institute- ********* over eighteen months prior to the filing of this complaint and has been aware of his remaining student account balance since that time. The Institute and the Corporate Collections Team have contacted **************** regarding his remaining student account balance on thirty-one separate occasions during the period of May 20, 2022 through the present date. In fact, during seven of these conversations with ****************, he agreed to participate in a payment plan to fulfill his responsibility and address his remaining student account balance.
At this time, UEI has provided a second response to ****************** concerns. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

I have a pell ***** that's supposed to be paying off my school but they are charging me while I'm still in I haven't even graduated. They charge us room and board but this isn't a campus like that. I have fallen behind on payments but I told them since the beginning of the semester I can't afford to pay and go to school that's what the pell ***** is for and I was told I was giving grace ****** and I wouldn't have to start paying till I graduated yet I've been sending money since last October this course is only supposed to be 9 months long but I've been here for almost 11 because I had to retake a unit. Now they are trying to prolong my classes because they claim they can't find a teacher to teach the class. The credit collections from the school calls me every week sometimes twice when I tell him the same thing everytime. I can't handle this by myself anymore they have been manip since the beginning making promises but never fulfillingBusiness Response

Dear ***********************,Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to respond to complaint #********, submitted by *************************** to the Better Business Bureau of *************** (BBB). ****************** began ************************* (AT) program at United Education Institute- *********, ** (the Institute)on July 27, 2022 and was withdrawn from the program on July 7, 2023 to wait for availability to repeat a required module.
****************** was Withdrawn from the Program due to the need to Repeat a Failed Module
****************** claims that the Institute is threatening to drop me from my classes. ****************** was withdrawn from the program after he failed two modules, repeated one of the two modules on two occasions and failed both time, and there was not an immediately available module for him to repeat. The AT program is comprised of nine courses or modules. To date, ****************** has attempted eleven modules, of which he has successfully passed seven modules and failed four module attempts. To be eligible for graduation from the program, ****************** was required to repeat two modules, AT2010-150 Steering, Suspension and Passenger Comfort and AT2010-130 Engine Performance and ******** Systems. ****************** attempted to retake AT2010-150 Steering, Suspension and Passenger Comfort on two additional occasions but did not successfully pass on either attempt.
At the time of enrollment, students have their modules scheduled in succession. However, if a student fails a module, they must repeat it and there is no guarantee that the repeat module will be immediately available. Therefore, it may be necessary to withdraw a student from the program until the needed module is available. As ****************** was required to repeat modules AT2010-150 Steering, Suspension and Passenger Comfort and AT2010-130 Engine Performance and ******** Systems, if the module was not immediately available, he was withdrawn to wait for availability of the module. ****************** claims they are trying to prolong my classes because they claim they cant find a teacher to teach the class which is inaccurate. The Institute cannot schedule a module for only one student. Modules are typically offered on a rotating basis. As such, ****************** must wait until the module he needs is offered again.
****************** has Misunderstood his Funding Plan
****************** states, they charge us room and board and attached his Funding Plan with his complaint. At the time of his enrollment, ****************** was provided a copy of his Funding Plan. The Funding Plan lists the Estimated Cost of Attendance. The Estimated Cost of Attendance includes direct costs, such as the Tuition and Fees charged for the program. The funding plan also lists the indirect costs, such as housing, meals and transportation that a student can expect to spend out of pocket while attending their educational program. ****************** was not charged for these items.Neither the Institution nor the student receives funding for the indirect costs. The funding plan does not indicate that the student is to receive payment for these items- it is simply an estimate of what the student could expect to spend on these items while they are in school.
****************** was Aware of his ***************** Payments for his Private Institutional Loan
****************** states I cant afford to pay and go to school thats what the Pell ***** is for. Mr. ******** statement is incorrect, as his Pell ***** did not cover the full amount of his tuition. The total amount of Mr. ******** tuition is $21,500. ****************** was approved for federal student aid in the amount of $9,500 and a Pell ***** for $4,945. To cover the remaining amount not covered by loans and grants, ****************** applied for a private institutional loan in the amount of $5,653. To obtain a private institutional loan, ****************** read and signed his contract for the loan on July 20, 2022, indicating his understanding of his repayment responsibilities. The private institutional loan contract specifically states that ****************** had nine in-school payments in the amount of $75 each and twenty-seven out-of-school payments in the amount of $207.31.
Calls Regarding Student Account Balance
****************** states that the credit collections from the school calls me every week sometimes twice. As ****************** agreed to his responsibility for his in-school payments and the out-of-school payments, he was aware of his responsibility for repayment of the education provided. ****************** agreed to his institutional private loan contract which states our affiliates, agents, service providers or assignees may call you, leave you a voice, prerecorded, or artificial voice message, or send you a text, email, or other electronic message for any purpose related to your Contract with us, our products and services, or surveys or research (each a Communication). You agree that we and any of our affiliates, agents service providers or assignees may call or text you at any telephone number associated with the Contract, including cellular telephone numbers, and may send an email to any email address associated with the Contract. Currently, ****************** owes $586.24 to the Institute for his past due in-school payments. Therefore, the Institutes Collections Team has been contacting ****************** regarding his unpaid student account balance.
At this time, the Institute has provided a detailed response to Mr. ******** concerns. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
