I signed up for this program around 2 years ago. I ended up not finishing because I was in an abusive relationship at the time. I had to move out of the home I was living in and get a lot of help to get my 3 kids and myself away from my abuser. I suffered a lot of mental distress after this. I've been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, depression and PTSD. I told them all about this and that I wanted to finish the program and explained this and practically begged for another chance. But they wanted me to go through a different program that I can't pay for right now or just pay what I owe them, which I also can't afford. I also went through a lot financially and still am, especially now that I am experiencing a lot of health issues. They also tried to tell me that I was supposed to be making payments before this all happened, which is not true. I was told if I finished and found a job and everything, that is when I would pay. Now they are still sending me messages to pay or it could affect my financial aid ability later, although I was not using financial aid with them and didn't even know I could. They talk about empowering women, but I feel like they are trying to put me through more distress than what I already have an am still going through, I can't take the stress of more debt when I already have bills to pay and I am sick most of the time. All I wanted was another chance to finish and get a great job, but they don't care I guess

I enrolled in Entity Academy and was never told that it would involve a lot of experience after to find a job in data analysis. I was never once told that I would need a bachelor degree in Science in order to hopefully find a job w/ several years of experience. I've been out of school since March of this year and every job I've applied for I've gotten the thanks but no thanks email. If I knew from the beginning that I need a bachelor degree I would have never wasted 9 months of my life. It was pretty much a self taught coarse and not easy at all. I've contacted my team that I worked w/ in the end and one has replied that she is also having no luck w/ a job. I've asked for help w/ job placement and they have only sent me what to do to filter jobs on Indeed. I feel like I've been screwed over. The only good thing is if I don't find a job I don't have to pay for the school. I did pay $100 a month during school and 3 months there after so yes they took my money. $1200 down the drain!! I'm sure nothing w/ come of this just like my certification.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/29/2022

      Hello ******,

I am in receipt of your notice regarding the BBB complaint submitted to you by ******************************

Firstly, ***************************** graduated the program in May 8, 2022, not March as she stated in the complaint. Students can and have gotten jobs in the data field post-program without prior in-field experience. Our most recent employment records show graduates landing full-time data analyst roles despite having backgrounds nursing, music performance, and social work.

It is not required to have a bachelors degree to get an in-field role after the program, nor is it required to have experience in data science or analysis. However, the role and level a graduate will qualify for will vary based on their background. We have always been upfront that employment after the program does not happen immediately, especially if one is looking to change careers.

It may take some grads without prior experience 6 or more months to land a job (******** is only 5 months out of the program), but it also involves a great deal of work and initiative from the student, along with ongoing collaboration between the graduate and ENTITY.

********, however, has not been consistent in her program participation, which includes a bevy of wraparound services to address her hard skills training, soft skills development, and career success. I have received the following information from our team regarding Jennifers participation in our wraparound services:

      HARD SKILLS MENTORSHIP:
      - ******** mentioned the course was pretty much self taught, but the technical mentor that was provided to her at the beginning of the program reports meeting with her once a week throughout the duration of her 33-week program.
      - When ******** began working on her final project, she was assigned to the instructors managing that portion of the curriculum, but her first technical mentor also spent additional time with her to help.

      SOFT SKILLS COACHING:
      - We only have her attending 1 soft skills coaching session at the beginning of her classes; she did not engage further after September 2021.
      - We offer a 12-session soft skills group coaching program that covers everything from growth mindset to time management, and she didnt participate in any of those sessions either.

      CAREER SERVICES:
      - ******** attested that when she asked for job placement, ENTITY simply sent [her] what to do to filter jobs on Indeed. Our records show this is not the case.
      - Out of the four appointments set with our career coach post-graduation, she only attended 2.
      - Our coach provided feedback on her resume and asked ******** to make edits, but we never received her updated documents.
      - Our coach also conducted research for jobs ******** would potentially qualify for based on her background, but ******** has not continued to engage with our services so we havent been able to take her through the findings.
      - According to our records, her Github account and LinkedIn accounts are also not complete, despite requesting she work on it and apply the feedback we provided for her.
      - Her correspondence also contains typos, which doesnt bode well when trying to recommend graduates to employers. This is something we are more than willing to work with her on, along with helping her find a suitable role for her background, but she needs to follow-through with her appointments.

The $1,200 she has already paid towards the wraparound services only covers a fraction of the $15,000 tuition. The tuition includes the services mentioned above, an eight-month long hard skills data science curriculum, live 1:1 technical mentorship once per week, and much more. It cost us many of thousands of dollars to upskilll women like ********. We take significant risks on students that pay little to nothing upfront, counting on their integrity to fulfill their obligations on tuition.

We stand behind our product and count hundreds of graduate success stories that back this up. We simply request you please look at all the facts before making a decision.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************
