At the end of 2023 I kept receiving government warning notices in the mail. I give one of them a call and it happens to be honest tax and not a government official at all. Red flag number one. After essentially allowing them to scare me into thinking all of my assets are going to be taken away and that I need to pay them this lump sum so that they are able to get them to stop asking me for money and get my debt completely erased. After going through with a loan of 4,681$ so they can do as they promised all of a sudden it was no longer enough money and they needed 4000 more dollars. They asked me to lie to the company giving the loan stating I make more money than I actually do so that I can be approved for the loan to get them their money. After that, I immediately felt uneasy and felt like I was being scammed. I told them from the beginning I do not want a payment plan because the payment plan that I was given in the beginning was way too much than what I can afford and they came back with They can get me a payment plan I told them from the beginning that its not what I wanted and if this isnt something that can be handled or taken care of with you guys then I dont want to continue to work with them. They over promised, and I have gotten not a single thing from them other than a packet with tax documents that I already currently have in my own possession. This business is a scam and theyre scamming people and scaring people into doing business with them. Im asking for a refund.Business Response

Honest Tax/5 Star Pros/ Nationwide Tac **** The ********* (multiple names) was hired on 6-14-22 to file my 2021 taxes and to date those taxes have not been filed based on the June 10, 2024, letter received from the **** Apparently, my case started in *********, ** and that is why I am filing the complaint in ******. I am told that the original attorney on my case was *************************, and his assistant was ***************************, and they are no longer with the company. I just learned the name of the new attorney is ***************** on 8-9-24 and was told that I could not speak with her as all calls/questions are handled by the call center but on one will explain to me why the taxes have not been file. Please note that this company was hired on 6-14-22 and I received tax forms to sign in May of 2023 a year from them being hired and I have never been given an explanation as to why. I want to be reimbursed for all fees paid, plus accrued tax penalties and for the new person that I have been forced to hire to resolve this issue. Also, please note that the forms they completed are incorrect and even after being given the correct information they are still wrong. January 19, 2022, I contacted Honest Tax, LLC via online about help with Tax Relief. I was contacted by phone with an agent from the company a bit later and I explained to them my tax situation. They told me they could definitely help, explained they were going to have me apply for a couple of loans to take care of my tax debt. I applied and received two loans - One from ************************* in the amount of $4500 and another from ********** in the amount of $6205. The company had me set them up as ***** of ******** with the *** and had me forward everything I've received from the *** to them. That was until I received notice that my taxes from 2019 and 2020, which I had take the loans out for, still have not been paid and have been gathering interest all these years. The company has not done anything they have said they are going to do and my money from the loans has apparently disappeared from what I've gathered since it is not being paid towards my taxes. I need my money back from these loans so I can attempt to actually take care of my tax situation that keeps piling up. I have not been able to get an answer from anyone at the company without being hung up on. They claim to be doing all of this work, yet I just received notification that a lien/garnishment is being set up for the years in question. Everything seems to have been building up over the couple of years, but it's all finally hitting at once since they have neglected actually doing anything. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. As I am also eager for a prompt resolution, I will accept the business's offer of a cancellation and full refund to the loan companies.I did want to clarify a few things that is very troublesome in the business's response. The tax years that were in need of preparation that were outstanding were the years 2019-2020. They were hired in February of 2022, so how would they have been hired for something that wasn't outstanding? I never received anything for the years 2019-2020 from Honest Tax, LLC. Also, the "Currently Non-Collectible" status is not accurate as I've already provided proof of the *** threatening to garnish my wages due to non-payment of the years 2019-2020.

They have not received any contact from Honest Tax LLC about anything they have promised to do. I have reached out to the *** as well as the Attorney General of Nevada about this manner since "Honest Tax LLC" seems to refuse to live up to their name and is doing everything but the "honest" thing. I feel like myself and the BBB are being blatantly lied to about what "Honest Tax LLC" 'plans' to do and they are trying to bide as much time as they can to figure out their next move/scam.

The loan that was with ********** has been apparently sold to an AI collection agency by the name of *********. I made contact with them previously, explaining Honest Tax was planning on cancelling/refunding the loans but they had not received any contact from Honest Tax. I was able to login to the account with ********************************** and screenshot my account information, showing that the loan is not cancelled like Honest Tax is falsely claiming.

I paid this company $5000 to initiate negotiate a tax resolution with the **** I also paid $500 for 2 years worth of tax returns preparation for 2021 & 2022. I received a letter in the mail regarding how Honest Tax could help with tax problems. I reached out to them and explained the situation to them. I spoke with ******************************* for a long time, and he stated numerous times that they only take on cases that they could win. My husband got us into tax problem, and I wanted to get my name off this as an innocent spousal. He kept reiterating that they would be able to help. However, I was told I had to be funded by ***********. I didn't have the money for this, and they stated you can't afford not to do this. So I have been paying $275.71 from April 2022 to current and have nothing to show for this. I did speak to ******************* attorney initially and then a few follow up phone calls that i had to initiate. I also had my husband (who I have been separated from for 8 plus years) speak to them as well. We have not heard back from anyone regarding the status of any resolution on the case. I feel like I was forced and scammed into this $8100.00 loan over 3 years at payment of $275.71. I have paid $2257.26 with balance of $5842.74. I haven't received anything from this and would like to get out of making any further payments and receive my money back. If someone can contact me that would be great.Business Response

Addtitonally, our mediator called and left a message **** received no response to that. Also, the last time we spoke to consumer, she called our representative a "Dick" and hung up. Hello,In June 2022, Honest Tax was supposed to negotiate my $50k *** balance down to $22k. Honest Tax is a merchant of *******. ******* sent Honest Tax a check for $22k, for Honest Tax to then send to the *** to settle my $50k balance. Then I am to repay the $22k to *******. Honest Tax failed to contact the *** and negotiate my balance. My *** Revenue Officer, who I've worked closely with on resolving my balance, confirmed he had never heard of Honest Tax, and there was nothing in my *** files from Honest Tax. I called Honest Tax, and they stated negotiations were still pending. I communicated to ********************* an Attorney for Honest Tax, to cease negotiations. I will pay the $50k *** balance, and my $6k balance to Honest Tax for Atty ***** He stated that was Ok. My Revenue Officer contacted ****************** to confirm everyone was in agreement that it was Ok for me to personally pay off the ***. ****************** approved and stated he would take care of the $22k balance from *******. It is going on 4 months, and Honest Tax will not return my calls. I spoke with *******, to inform them of the details of my situation, and they confirmed Honest Tax is a merchant of ******* and have stated they have reached out Honest Tax on several occasions to have them return the $22k check. Stated that Honest Tax has not returned their calls nor have they returned their check. Meanwhile, my credit is being severely affected with the late payments. ******* stated they can delete the late pmts from my credit, but they need Honest Tax to return their calls & the $22k check. I need for Honest Tax to return the $22k check that was never sent to the ***, to *******. This will clear up the negative reporting on my credit. And return my full balance of atty ***** because they did absolutely NOTHING to assist me.Business Response

On 8/15/22, I received a call from (***********************), representing Honest Tax, LLC. The company supposedly helps you with *** debt you have. And will draw up documents to show you're not able to pay. Gathers all of your personal info (application process) and financial info and tell you that they can have their company attorneys (tax attorneys, previous *** workers), review documents. Manager ************************* got on the phone further explained program. Wanted $4000 for the service. Stated would be completely out of debt ($35k). Process would take ***** day, when in fact the *** is behind 9 months, ( i found out later). I agreed to sign-up for the company to do this service. He agreed to $666.67/month for 6 months. I authorized 1st payment on 8/15/22. They informed me that i could cancel at anytime. However, later that day, did research about services they were going to provide. After going on *** website and seeing if I qualified for the program (unable to pay tax debt), I DIDNT. Essentially, if you're a home owner that disqualifies you! And one vital piece of info ****** didnt tell me was that the *** could put judgment on your credit report. So, next day I contacted ****** and ****** and told them I wanted to cancel because of the info i had discovered. And requested refund on 8/16/22. ****** stated i would have refund in **** business days. Fast forward, I have called, texted and emailed Skylla asking for status of redund. I have gotten the run around "Im going to contact customer service **** and ask when it was issued". NO calls back with updated info. All i want is my refund, as promised. I cancelled this deal the next day! It hadnt been 24hrs. I DO NOT believe this is a legitimate company. I belive it is a scam. Because it was listed on BBBand had TERRIBLE ratings and now it is nowhere to be found.So, anyone seeking assistance from Honest Tax in *********, STAY AWAY and do your research PRIOR to committing because once they have your money, you wont get it back.Business Response
