      On or around April 8, 2024, I brought my 2017 **** Expedition (VIN: *****************) to Baca's National Differential LLC to diagnose some rear axle noise I perceived while driving. The technicians diagnosed the problem as a bad wheel bearing, right rear side, and suggested replacement of both rear wheel bearings. The technicians also stated they heard some minor clicking in the rear differential and suggested a rebuild of the rear differential. I agreed to the work and the vehicle was delivered to me on 12 April 2024, receipt attached, noting that the receipt states "WARRANTY 1 YR ***************** July 1, 2024, while driving through *********, **, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear differential and right rear axle, as evidenced by the complete loss of oil from the differential and the right rear axle partially popping out of the differential. This failure rendered the vehicle inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a local ********* who told me to bring it directly to the nearest **** Dealership. The **** mechanic noted, "Found that the oil slinger wasn't installed in-between the pinion and seal. Also found wear on ring gear indicating pinion depth not properly seat[ed]. Pinion was going [too] deep into right gear." The receipt and mechanic's notes are attached. Also the **** mechanic sent me a picture of the missing oil slinger seal next to the differential. The dealership rebuilt the differential and replaced the rear axle at a cost of $4618.37. I incurred an additional cost of $307.66 for 2 nights in a hotel room, $245.66 for a rental car, and $334 for a return flight to *********, ** to pick up the car. It is my belief and the belief of the **** mechanic, that the improper setting of the pinion depth and uninstalled oil slinger seal by Baca's National Differential were the cause of this catastrophic failure. I'm asking Baca's National Differential to honor the 1 YR warranty and refund me the cost that I incurred due to their work.
