    We have used this business on three occasions previously with reasonable results. After a home invasion one of our electric roller shades was damaged. ***** came over and rehung the damaged shade. One of the mounts was broken and he said we should replace the entire blind with new mounting brackets. His bid was $2400 and we paid a $1200 deposit with a time frame of 3 to 4 weeks for delivery and installation. The order was placed August 22, 2024. There was also a broken remote for the blinds that he was going to replace. Since that time we have called and left messages on both ***** and ******* cell phones on numerous occasions without the courtesy of a return. We would like to complete the project or have our deposit returned so we can finish putting our house back together. Our previous interactions with this company was slow but acceptable but no response is frustrating and worrisome since our funds were deposited over 3 months ago.

    On 8/14 Shutter Doctor provided a quote for 3 plantation shutters for my home. The 50% deposit was paid on 8/15, $907.32, via Zelle. Shutters were installed 9/23/24 and were substandard quality and visibly defective. ***** (business owner) acknowledged the substandard quality and told me around 10/2/24 that he was dealing with his manufacturer on the poor quality, that another client had the same issue, and would be back in touch with a resolution. Since then, he has not returned my calls or text messages. I was very clear that I wanted these shutters remade and would leave these inferior ones in place until the remakes were ready. He agreed. After multiple attempts to contact via text and voicemail, I now want a full refund on my deposit of $907.32. I have been extremely fair, understanding and patient with what this company has promised, but not delivered. I no longer wish to have this company in my home and do not trust that they have been working on a resolution. I have now researched and read online complaints, that they have done this to other clients. I have a full record of all texts, voicemails and emails for reference.

    Hello,

    Thank you for the update. No, I have not received any communication from the Shutter Doctor. I would like to pursue your suggestion of other agencies that may be able to assist further, in the event they do not respond. It has been several weeks and it is unlikely they will respond. I have read other online complaints that this is their MO. Wish I had known before hiring him. I did not find any information through the *************************** Would he have to be licensed by them for window coverings? I believe he also does commercial jobs. At least that's what he has told me.

    Can you please direct me on next steps for this type of business? I don't think they need a Contractor's License for blinds, do they?

    Just for reference, if you see their Yelp reviews, they're displaying a pattern of taking money and not providing service or blinds.

    Date of transaction: March 15, 2024 I am writing to file a complaint against Shutter Doctor for failure to complete a shutter installation project, despite receiving 75% of the payment ($3,956). As of today, only approximately 40% of the work has been completed.Despite numerous attempts to contact the company since their last visit on June 21, 2024, we have not received any response or update on the project's status. Our last communication was on July 15, 2024, and subsequent efforts to reach out have been met with silence.The company is still in possession of five of our shutters, and additional work is required on the five shutters already installed. The initial project timeline estimated completion within 6-8 weeks, but it has now been over four months since the projected completion date.We request that Shutter Doctor complete the outstanding work and provide a plan for completion.
