Hired Desired Coating solutions to do a two part kitchen rehab job. They were to resurface my kitchen cabinets and epoxy my kitchen counters. My cabinets came out wonderful. My countertops are atrocious! Gouges, rough edges, spots missed, spots not sealed. Have repeatedly reached out to the owner ******** to attempt to get him to fix the job to my satisfaction with unsatisfactory responses. He's *** and unprofessional and has left me in a learch with a kitchen that at this point isn't even functioning due to the stove and sink being removed for this project. It's now going on two weeks of this turmoil and I am at ****** end trying to get Desired Coating Solutions to do the job they were hired to do.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/17/2022

When ******* job was completed she said she was happy with the work with the exception of the edges of her countertop. She explained that she was looking for perfectly smooth edges which is not possible to do with the grinding method I use as a standard procedure. After seeking the advice of a third party she was informed that there was a product that could be used to cover the countertops before applying the epoxy that would smooth the edges. This is not a product I have ever used or a service I have ever provided. I offered to help redo the counters with the help of the third party using his product if ****** covered the cost of the new product. I wanted her to be satisfied with the job but I also was not going to cover the cost of redoing the job because she wanted to now use a product that I dont offer. I was willing to cover the labor and only charge her my cost to cover the product but she was unhappy with this and proceeded to claim a project she once mostly approved of was now atrocious and she was completely unsatisfied. This simply is not true and has only become the case when I refused to cover all costs of redoing a job that was completed to the best of our standard.

I am rejecting this response because: I had already paid cash, upfront and in full for this job to be completed. It should have been done so correctly the first time, and I should not have ro pay again for the job to be completed. Especially when ******** was a one man operation when doing the countertops! Material was only about $1500, and I was charged $5000, which means $3500 of that was cash profit for the owner, ********. Offering to cover labor does nothing for me, nor does it cost him anything, yet he expects me to pay again for new product! This is unacceptable, especially when  I expressed concerns from the get-go & throughout the entire process. Concerns of not properly prepping, & not masking off the work area making an absolute disaster of a mess throughout my entire home.. Concerns unsatisfactory workmanship on edges where ******** ground the shape of my countertops away, and left drip marks the size of ********************* on my edges. Every time I would address anything ******** would get loud and intimidating with me and claimed that this was his standard business practice and that he did not know another way. After having 3 other companies come out to have them look at the work, they all agreed that this was job not well done and that he should fix it on his dime. They were appalled that he left my kitchen in this state & could not understand how he could consider this a finished or satisfactory job. I was told that I should not pay for this work, but once again I was screwed bc I had to pay up front for all the work and in cash! So now he has my money, who knows if he has any intentions of claiming it, and I have a botched kitchen job that I can not live with, and am now having to shell out more money to fix HIS SHAWTY WORK!

    Sincerely,
