I purchased a home at ********** ******* Dr. in *******, ** ***** and took ownership on June 25, 2024. I applied for electric service at Valley Electric and was told I would have a $505 deposit, which would be waived after securing a letter of credit from my prior electric provider Com ** in ********. I contacted Com** regarding this request and they forwarded me via email the statements going back to May of 2023 and showed my payments. I was advised by VEA that this was not sufficient and that they needed a letter of credit from ComED. I have since contacted ComED on multiple occasions and they have advised that the letter was sent to Valley Electric Assoc. (VEA) via email and by mail. However, I am being told by VEA that no such correspondence has been received. I have asked that the two companies communicate with each other since this is the first time that I have ever been required to furnish such a document and have no idea what each company's business protocols are. I have and continue to pay these companies and despite assurances from each party nothing has been done and yet I am continuing to receive ********.

Per Company Policy, it is the members responsibility to obtain a Letter of Credit to avoid a deposit on the account. The Letter can be emailed, mailed or faxed to avoid the deposit requiement. The previous electric company is sending via ***** so we have not received the letter of credit as of yet. Once this is received, the deposit, will be refunded. We do not contact the other utilities directly. Most of our members will request the letter to be sent to them personally and either walk the letter of credit into the lobby or email. Member was aware of deposit when signing up for membership.
