Sky Fiber Internet has provided subpar service for about the last six months or so. According to their website, they "give a ****". Well, apparently they do not. Everytime I contact them, they always try to pawn it off as "my problem". I have been in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years and I know for a FACT that this NOT MY PROBLEM. Unfortunately in the state of Nevada, internet service is not regulated by the PUC. Too bad it isn't, as this company would probably be stripped of its business license. I am requesting contact by the CEO of this company as to what he's going to do to fix this problem instead of hosting "golf tournaments".

I just finished a 3-year contract with SkyFiberInternet out of Reno, NV. I tried to cancel my service last year and pay an early out charge, but when I went to ask about it, I was informed that the early-out option fee was the same amount I would pay for internet for the remainder of the 3-year contract in total. So, essentially, I was paying for it whether I was using it or not.

During the 3 years, the entire small town of Battle Mountain has been without internet for hours to days at a time. Since the whole town's Sky Fiber was down, I didn't see a need to report it.

I have now finished my contract with them and asked them to cancel my service. I am not currently under a contract. They informed me that, even though I am not under a contract, I am still obligated to pay for the next 30 days of internet. So, I am being asked to pay an additional $45 dollars for pro-rated internet I am not using.

Additionally, I was told that I will need to climb on my roof and remove the equipment they installed up there and then, I will need to ship or drive my equipment to Reno, NV before the service is terminated. Reno is a 4-hour drive from here.

I was informed that the local technician could pick up the equipment from me for $65 even though he lives here in town.

Although their slogan is "We give a damn!" it appears the only thing they give a damn about is squeezing every penny they can out of rural folks.
