I was looking for an electrical seminar to assist me in studying for a state masters exam for electrician. I called EES and was very specific regarding my timeline of seminars I need to schedule. I asked them if February 2024 was feasible and the rep on the phone said YES. I signed up and paid $2799.00 for the course. I assumed I would get emails regarding starting the course. I received nothing from them until I had to keep emailing and calling them. They told me the only course they had available didn’t start until April 2024. I explained to them they told me February and April was too late since I needed to get my license by March 2024. The exact words and emails stated “that’s all we have available” I went ahead and took the State Master’s License since I was in desperate mode and passed. I reached out to EES and told them and they said sorry no refunds. This is wrong that a company takes your money, provides no service, lies to you about scheduling dates and will not provide a refund since they lied to me about the services they can and then don’t provide. I need the BBB to assist in this type of fraudulent business practice.

We dispute in the strongest possible terms both the client’s characterization of his communications with our firm and his complaint that the services purchased were not as described. On 01/24/2024 the client purchased our Delaware Master Limited Electrical Exam Seminar. On 01/25/2024 he signed an invoice receipt (see attachment #1) that clearly disclosed that all seminar fees paid are non-refundable.

The client received access to our online learning portal 01/29/2024. His activity log provides proof that he signed in and accessed instructional materials as of that date (see attachment #2). He received by email a seminar attendance schedule and instructional study guides (see attachment #3) on 02/08/2024. This email notified said client that his four-week evening seminar was scheduled to start on 04/01/2024 and would end on 04/24/2024.

On 02/12/2024 the client sent an email indicating that he wished to complete his seminar attendance sooner, so on 02/14/2024 we provided an adjusted seminar schedule by email that would have allowed him to begin attending sessions on 04/01/2024 (see attachment #3) and complete his attendance by 04/09/2024, three weeks prior to his original completion date.

On 02/16/2024 the client called to indicate that he wanted to begin his attendance prior to 04/01/2024 so on 02/16/2024 we provided a seminar schedule by email (see attachment #4) that would have allowed him to begin his training on 03/15/2024.

Because we provide one-on-one private tutoring each time that we rescheduled this client, per his request, instructor time had to be cancelled and rescheduled.

The last communication we had with the client was a phone call on 02/27/2024 indicating that he had passed his examination without attending instructor-led sessions and wanted a refund. We referred him to his signed receipt which clearly stated that all fees paid are non-refundable.

In light of the above, the client’s complaint that we misrepresented the services that he purchased and did not deliver those services is not accurate. We can only provide services to a client when said client is willing to make himself available to receive the services we were contracted to provide.

However, in an effort to resolve this matter as amicably as possible, in an email dated 02/27/2024 (see attachment #5) we offered the client the following two options:

Option 1. You can apply the fees that you have paid to any additional exam in the country that you desire to be prepared for, with full access to exam-specific, 1-on-1-preparation for the selected exam state, and your unlimited free repeat attendance guarantee.

Option 2.  Your seminar fees may at your discretion be re-assigned once to any individual whom you would like to attend the seminar in place of you, for the exam of their choice. The individual that you select would receive the full seminar, with exam-specific, 1-on-1 preparation for the selected exam state, along with the unlimited free repeat attendance guarantee.

We clearly and accurately disclosed to the client the terms and conditions of his enrollment. We have exhibited good faith by repeatedly rescheduling his attendance per his request and by offering him the options described above. We therefore assert that the client’s complaint is neither factual nor creditable.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Even though this was a well written explanation of course of events, I will put it in real simple terms.

When I signed up on the phone with rep, she stated I could take the course in February and could have my course seminars completed by March. As you can see from there email of events that was not available after they received my payment. I clearly wanted this completed by beginning of March 2024. They said that was not possible and you have No Refunds coming to you.

This is a shady business practice!

    Sincerely,

    **** *****

As it relates to Mr. ***** latest correspondence, we must strongly and vehemently disagree with his assertions.

At no time was Mr. ***** promised that he would complete his electrical licensing exam preparation in March. However, as the previously submitted supporting documentation verifies, we made multiple attempts in good faith to accommodate Mr. *****’s request to reschedule his exam preparation, even though it meant having to reallocate instructor resources that could have been used for other clients.

Also, as previously submitted documentation and record logs verify, Mr. ***** received full access to our online learning library and had accessed these exam preparation materials.

It should be noted that after having received access to our online learning library, Mr. ***** chose of his own volition to take the electrical licensing exam without having completed his exam preparation. He of course passed the exam as 95% of our clients do.

The questions that arise are as follows: Was the information that Mr. ***** accessed from our learning library what was needed for him to pass the exam?

When Mr. ***** then decided to take the electrical licensing exam on his own with the information that he had already accessed from our online learning library, did the fact that he passed without fully completing the course create buyer’s remorse on his part?

For many decades we have prepared electricians throughout the country to successfully pass the electrical licensing exams. Our references, and client testimonials are second to none in this regard. With careful consideration of our client’s preparation needs in relation to the exam that they desire to pass, we have created an effective online learning platform that helps electricians to succeed. This has always been our only objective for Mr. *****.

We are very happy for the role that we played in helping Mr. ***** pass his exam, despite the fact that he chose not to complete our exam preparation seminar. As we previously submitted to the BBB, we have offered Mr. ***** the options to prepare for any other city or state exam that he might like to take with the full credit of the seminar that he paid for being applied, or the ability to assign his attendance along with all rights, privileges, and our exclusive unlimited free repeat attendance to another electrician of his choosing.

We feel that these considerations are more than fair, especially because Mr. ***** not only accessed our online learning materials, but also subsequently passed the electrical licensing exam that we had agreed to prepare him for.

We cannot be held responsible for the fact that after entering an agreement with our firm and reaping the benefits of having accessed our exam preparation materials, a client decides not to complete his exam preparation, takes the electrical licensing exam, passes said exam and then develops feelings of buyer’s remorse.

As stated earlier, Mr. ***** is still welcome to attend our full seminar for any additional licensing exam that he desires to take, or he may assign the full value of the seminar to another electrician of his choosing with our transfer provision.

Our company’s strict policy of seminar fees being non-refundable was agreed to in writing by Mr. *****. It is our hope that he will afford himself of one the options that we have presented above for resolution of this matter.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

To answer the question of “Did our practice exam help Mr ***** pass the exam” the answer to this could be maybe, maybe not. I also took 5 other FREE practice exams online that I did not pay $2799.00 for.

The simple solution to this would be when your company signs up a potential student, right there on the phone that rep should have access to the schedule just like the other professional companies have.

So for example I called up very interested and stated I’d like to do these seminars in February 2024, when the rep says “yes we always have seminars available and you will hear immediately from our scheduling department. Well….. that sold me to pay out $2799.00 and then to hear it’s not until April 2024, then I complain and I’m told 3/15/24. Not sure how much clearer I could have been when I asked for February.

Long complaint short here, I’m sure the seminars work and work well but do not exaggerate to your customers about scheduling. Hopefully you will agree to this to put this to an end. Your company can go ahead and profit $2799 from me for not being truthful.

I very strongly recommend and urge that you train and educate your sales team about honesty, integrity and quality customer service.

    Sincerely,

    **** *****
