      After promising online reviews Mr. D****** was hired for a Family Court matter. He was confidence that our case would be simple, and we liked his laid backed demeanor. Our case escalated to a trial. The child was seeking to reside in our custody. Within the first few months and appearances it was clear that Mr. D****** was difficult to reach or get a response back from within reasonable time. We outright told him that we felt as if we were begging for his attention often. He apologized, but it continued. Mr. D****** was provided an abundance of evidence, including mobile communications, social media transcripts, phone and police records/reports, character references, voluntary parenting class certificates, a witness list, school/medical records, certified formal correspondences, and more. From the start to the conclusion of the trial Mr. D****** used NOTHING. He honored none of our repeated requests to present our evidence or witnesses. During questioning he had been provided a date by date account of our families difficulties with the other party. He failed to ask any significant questions, or to even challenge the other parties narrative. He often chose not to question at all. As we had meticulously documented the other parties abuse/encounters, we should have done well. Mr. D****** continued to mislead how the case was proceeding. He skirted around nearly all of the allegations against us. We strongly felt that his representation was serving us no purpose. I was being portrayed horrendously. The other parties public defender dragged us through the mud. We formally requested to adjourn to seek other counsel. Our request was denied. Mr. D****** apologized and gave us most of our retainer back. His poor communication and lack of fair representation, left us in the worst possible position, awaiting a verdict. We deeply regret hiring Mr. D****** and after working with him, feel that Family Court matters are outside the scope of his professional ability and interest.
