    Company towed vehicle after city called for overnight. When called was told a price that never been charged before when city has had my vehicle towed. Obviously this was upsetting. Conversation was ended when I told owner that “oh you have a lot in Watertown. Wait my son’s car was robbed while sitting in this lot in Watertown. Can you tell me where the H*** it is before mine gets stolen from also.” Owners proceeded to tell me that I wouldn’t get my vehicle till Monday now (this conversation being had Saturday morning) and it would be an extra 150 per day because of storage. He said he didn’t have to let me get my vehicle until Monday and me being upset over the price made him decide not to do it today even though he was previously willing to . Company has a city contract to be a company called for overnight towing and treats people like this .

    BBB called and the rep explained that the Watertown police since the vehicle was improperly parked blocking plows. This was a late Friday or Saturday. The consumer called on Saturday morning, and the owner was willing to meet with the consumer. The consumer immediately started swearing and not letting the owner work with the consumer on the price.After constant threats from the consumer, the owner hung up the phone. The consumer picked up the vehicle with a reduced price despite his rude behavior.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

    Saturday when I called I was given a price that was drastically higher than any other tow company that tows vehicles for police. He quoted 350 where at most ever charged is normally 250 but as low as 180. This upset me I was let belligerently cursing. Before hanging up he told me I would have to wait for his business hours to pick it up which were Monday. After searching anywhere available the only hours found posted publicly by company stated open always (please see attached), it was the business Facebook page: Monday when vehicle picked up price put down to 250 but charged 100 day for storage. Penal code for Watertown NY states vehicles towed by order of chief of police may not be assessed more than 10$ per day for storage (see attached). So my over priced bill that upset me before he hung up went from 350$ sat to 600$ Monday and this was how he claims reduced price(see attached.)

    On 03/07/2024 i picked up my car from mr. Tire on Arsonal street watertown ny I proceeded to drive up on to gaffney street not even a block away when my car broke down and was approached by the watertown police who helped me with assistance and asked if I wanted him to call a wrecker to help get it back to the shop and I asked how much something like that would cost he said around a 120.00 dollars and I said I guess I don't really have a choice when the wrecker company showed up they loaded my car on I hoped in to the truck and on my way to mr. Tire less then 2 mins away from where I broke down at asked how much it was gonna cost and then was blown away by the amount he said 450.00 dollars plus tax at that point it was to late to say no way nevermind. I am very un pleased with the amount and feel I was overcharged massively for the distance it had to be taken the gentleman was very nice to me and respectable but deffinatly feel I was overcharged im not saying I won't pay for the tow but I do feel I should be refunded some of that money as it was a very short distance and feel it was wrong to be charged 501.00 dollars for the tow that was less than 2 miles from where I broke down at.
