4/4/25 I contracted with J.S. asphalt to rip out old driveway, replace it, and seal it. All work was performed on 4/4/25 and I paid the full amount of $6552.00 the same day by credit card. It rained quite a bit the next few days and the water was not flowing off the driveway and there was a problem with the way he graded it. I contacted Jim, owner of the company and spoke to him about it. I provided him videos and photos. He felt the grade was right and he did nothing wrong and he purposely graded it so the water ran from one side of the driveway to the other side but it did not run off the driveway. I disagreed told him it wasn’t right. We met in person on April 19 at my house and discussed it in depth. He offered to redo the driveway but kept saying that water would pool underneath the driveway bc of the way the neighbors lawn was graded. I was not happy with that response. We went back and forth and I said I would have someone else come look at it for second opinion. Within two weeks I had one contractor out to assess. He found several issues with the job. Asphalt was still soft, there were low spots where the water would pool up and the slope and grade was not right. On May 3 I texted Jim and told him he could either redo the driveway or return my money. He replied no problem and he would be out the following week weather permitting. On May 7 he came and ripped out the driveway. He laid the stone gravel and when they were done roped off my driveway and told me not to drive on it. He never said when he was coming back. May 16 i texted him asking when it would be done he responded bc of ground saturation probably not for two weeks. On May 27 I texted him asking when it would be done he said most likely the 2nd week of June. Tried calling him he said he didn’t have cell service. Asked him to call when he had service and he never did. Texted him June 3 no response. Called him June 3 left message no response. Can’t use driveway or garage.
