I contacted Island Elevator to diagnose and attempt to repair a problem with my in-home elevator. I spoke at length with the customer service rep about what the precise problem was, and sent through several pictures (at their request) showing the problem and the elevator. Island Elevator required a three hour minimum (at $330.00 per hour) to send someone out. However, when the person arrived, it was clear they had not been sent the pictures and were not aware at all what the problem was. They were there for a total of 30 minutes, and all they did was tell me about the problem that I already knew existed, and then say they had to order a part.Several days later, I called to follow up on when the part would be ready and installed, and Island Elevator told me that they would not be able to schedule a follow up visit at all. So Island Elevator charged me $1,075.39 to tell me about a problem I had already told them I had, and then say they wouldn't even send someone out to fix it at a later date. Importantly, this refusal violates one of the terms of their estimate, which states that "If we are unable to return the car to service within 3 hours, an additional estimate will be sent with our suggested corrective options." They did not deliver on this end of the bargain.I contacted Island Elevator about this and (eventually) they agreed to refund the price I paid. However, a month after not receiving the refund, I followed up, and was told yesterday that they changed their mind and would not be issuing a refund--but failed to reach out to me to tell me that.
