We had a fire at the residence on 06/29/2022, after meeting with the insurance company and the restoration company I chose to hire a friend of my wife's husband who ***** a mechanical company and a construction company that buys houses fixes them up (not sure now if to code) and then sells them. (House Flipper). I had him come out to give me an estimate to replace what was existing (since I installed a Central air system for the 2nd floor a year earlier) and add a 4 split unit system on the 1st floor with A/C and Heat. We walked thru the 1st floor, and we went over the changes we were making to the house, and he was giving suggestions where to place the units. He did his calculations and we moved to the 2nd floor where I told him just to replace what was/is existing. The Estimate for the 1st floor was $13,800.00 with an estimated $1,300.00 rebate and the estimate for the 2nd floor was $3,700.00. I signed the Invoice/Estimate on 01/24/2023 and gave him a Deposit of $8750.00 and since I have a restoration company that pulled Permits, they asked if I hire an outside Contractor that they get their own permit, so it doesn't fall under their insurance and liability. His permit was issued 03/31/2023 and they started work on 04/12/2023 and it started wrong because the Owner ***** just sent them to start without walking the job with them. I arrived home that night and noticed that they ran the line sets right through the new window that was getting added to the kitchen. They had to moved (with 1- 2 1/2 hole thru the house and siding) and at the same time they brazed the line sets which in time causes leaks and it voids the warranty, recommended compression only if required. I sent him drawings for the existing duct work to have fabricated and he chose to go a different route. I told him no hard feelings I had to let him go and then when I requested the materials for the house that he purchased, and he wanted an additional $4,598.00 plus tax when they were here 3 days and maybe $3000.00 in material and labor
