BBB spoke to the business and the following was relayed: She came to us with a specific budget (around $4000) and wanted to get into something newer.  She was driving, I believe, a 2012 ***** **** when she came to us.  I worked for weeks to help her get into a 2016 ***** ****.  I got her financing through a credit union at a great interest rate.  All the credit union said, was that she would have to set up a payment plan to pay off current debts that she owed on.  I sold her this good car and she drove it for over a year and a half.  The car had 170,000 miles on it at the time of purchase.  The car was fully inspected and passed inspection before it was sold.  There is no way around faking an inspection in NYS.  The car legally passed inspection.  She did not purchase any warranty and any vehicle sold with over 100,000 miles on it at the time of sale do not come with any NYS Lemon Law protections.  So now, a year and half after she bought the car she wants us to repair it for free or refund her.  That is just not reasonable.  We did our best to try and go above and beyond for her by getting her into a good car in her price range and with her credit.  And we'd be happy to continue working with her, but there is going to be a charge for any repairs needed.  Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

During the month of October I went car shopping and was drawn to CJ's Car America by an ad on ******** marketplace for a 2013 ****** **. I called them about this car and was told that they were working with someone else trying to get it and that they had left a deposit. I asked to be notified if the deal fell apart as I really wanted that car.

A couple days later on 10/22/24 they called me and said they were tired of waiting and it was mine if I wanted it. They asked for a deposit over the phone to hold it while I worked out financing at my bank. I provided a $200 deposit over the phone and Justin from the Canastota location sent me back a picture of the receipt via text message. I was also illegally charged a fee that I was never even made aware of for them running my debit card (illegal in NY to charge this fee period). The total of the deposit was $206.50.

The next day I went down to the location and asked to drive the vehicle (I was denied this the first time because it was being held for someone else at the time) and to pick up the purchase offer for my bank to take a look at. I was asked to sign the purchase offer, but declined stating that the form meant that the sale was binding once I signed.

The bank ultimately decided that the NADA value of the car was too low ($7250 approx.) and they were asking for $10,500 - so they wanted much more money down than the $1000 I had been planning on providing. I even attempted to let CJ's Car America try to get me alternative financing. They were not able to do so.

I asked for a refund on my deposit from Justin at CJ's Car America after receiving this information. He declined, stating that "The deposit was to hold the car, we did that."

I want my deposit money back please. As is the law under these circumstances.

I purchased a vehicle less than 90 days ago within that 90 days. I have already had to replace the battery. Had to bring the car back to the dealership three different times due to engine light being on speedometer not working and a lot of noise in the rear end he is continuing to tell me that the car has been fixed when it’s picked up it is not Told me to take it someplace else to have it fixed, but it would come out of my pocket

Miss ********* purchased her vehicle in March. She had a couple concerns that we took care of, including giving her all new tires.  We later repaired her instrument panel well after the initial 30 day warranty expired at no cost to her.
The problem is that we don’t have loaner cars and the customer can’t leave her vehicle without one, so it is difficult to coordinate service work. The initial 30 day warranty is expired, however the customer does have an extended service contract to assist with future repair needs.
We would be happy to service her vehicle If she can drop it off and make alternative transportation arrangements. I did advise Miss ********* that she can have repairs done closer to home at a shop of her choosing that might be able to accommodate her with a loaner vehicle.

      February 28th 2023
      Purchased two vehicles from them
Since purchasing one of the vehicles engine/motor has blown and needs to be completely replaced. The other vehicle is having some issues as well.
Has tried to contact owner multiple times and never receive a call back, and always seems to be "unavailable"
Seeking a resolution for being sold two "lemon" vehicles

I have spoken to Mrs. ******** a few times over the phone.     The vehicles that she purchased came with a 30 day warranty. At the point of sale we offered an opportunity to purchase extended service contracts but she declined to purchase one for either of her vehicles. I have no record of servicing either of the vehicles in question since then and no knowledge of any maintenance she may or may not have done over the past 9 months. Without an extended service contract in place to assist in paying for the repairs, our hands are tied. However I did attempt to assist her in finding less expensive parts but that is all we can do at this point.    We cannot offer her a refund.

This is the first I'm hearing of any unresolved issues. Mr ******** has purchased 3 vehicles from me and I have always stood behind them . He purchased his last vehicle on 01/24/222  and at the time of purchase he got a 60 month 100000 mile extended warranty with lifetime engine and transmission coverage. I'm not certain what his issues are but after dialing ************ the number he listed is no longer in service,.
