I am not only disappointed but disturbed by my recent experience. As a black women I experienced what I believed to be bias. I was charged double for a service with no explanation other than it was not my natural hair. I went in for a routine wash with the expectation it Would be a slight up charge for the length of my extensions. No special shampoo , no extra time for my services than normal .. I repeatedly asked for a break down of the charges and could not be given. I question the price of a latina patron whos hair was the same length if not longer and she was charged regular price because it was deemed natural. If the price could be justified I would have no issue but it was a clear bias and inflated price based on the managers mood. No visible documentation is visible for clients for the 50% upcharge. This Latina business is built off of the patronage of African American women. If there is an up charge for extensions there should be Base line. Not a glance at the patron and a guess of what to charge. The sad part is the actual stylist are really good women whove I known since a kid going to this salon. To even be put in this position to write this breaks my heart. But one thing I cant stand for is bias in any shape or form.
