I got a Raspberry Pi 5, a 7 inch TFT Screen, and an RA8875 board. This combination is advertised on their website to work as a monitor. I get it, and after fiddling with it for hours and digging on the internet, I find out that no, you cannot use it as a monitor. On their website they both list it as such and photograph it as such. Other people have had this exact same issue, and they are just ignored on the forums. The forums which I was directed to time and time again despite the fact that my questions went unanswered when using them. I really had high hopes for this company but I was let down on so many levels, from false advertising, subpar products, and nonexistent customer support. The whole reason I bought from them was for the knowledge base that they so frequently tout. I can assure you it is not worth it. In the end, I feel scammed. While I did get some parts as a gift, I am still a legal minor on a very slim budget, so when I have an experience like this, it is particularly hurtful.

I don't recommend this business. I purchased some products from the website that are faulty. I attempted to return the two faulty products without success. Returns are only allowed on unopened items, and the customer is charged a restocking fee. The company doesn't accept responsibility for items broken on arrival, but I still attempted a return by submitting a request via a form submission. I was emailed and referred to the forums to receive assistance. The forums are the only method of customer service, and the moderators in the forums are the only people who can authorize a return. I posted a message and didn't receive any assistance after several days. I replied to the email with this information and was told that the moderators would be informed. I waited several more days without assistance. I again replied to the email and was told the same thing. I realize that I will not receive assistance or be allowed to return the items. I would not have ordered from this company if I had known of the return policy and lack of customer support. This experience is why I don't like ordering from online stores and small businesses. I prefer to shop at large businesses so I can return products to a local store. I never have a problem with returns at a large business. Companies like Adafruit give all small businesses a bad reputation. I wasted almost $140. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

Response to BBB Complaint by ***** Centers Order: #*******-5714734535 Date: June 17, 2025 Products: Raspberry Pi 5 + accessories (power supply, HDMI cable, fan case, controller, etc.)*****,We appreciate you reaching out and are responding to your BBB review directly, since our support emails and forum assistance have unfortunately not resulted in a resolution you're satisfied ******** reported that your Raspberry Pi 5 did not boot. Within hours of your initial message, our support team provided instructions on how to get free, one-on-one engineering assistance through our public technical support forums, where hardware issues are verified and warranty options can be approved. That is our standard and clearly communicated process, which exists to protect customers and ensure fair *************** then posted in the forums but didnt wait the stated 12 business days for a full engineering review. You followed up by email, and we confirmed multiple times that your forum post had been escalated to our team. While waiting, you sent another message indicating that the fan had also stopped working. These are technical issues our engineers are prepared to address, but only if were given the opportunity.Your BBB complaint says we dont accept responsibility for faulty items, but thats simply not true. When an issue is confirmed through the forum, we issue replacements or returns at our cost. However, when someone refuses to engage with the process or stops replying, theres nothing we can do to ********** also mention being unable to return the items because theyre opened. That policy applies to returns of non-defective items. If something arrives defective, we replace itwe just need a forum thread so the engineers can diagnose it.Finally, your suggestion that small businesses like ours dont offer proper support is disappointing. We go above and beyond with full documentation, tutorials, videos, and staffed support channelsall included in the price. Thats part of what makes Adafruit ************ this point, since you've made it clear youre unwilling to continue troubleshooting or accept our support workflow, we recommend you seek out another supplier in the future that aligns better with your expectations. We stand by our products, our people, and our processbut it only works if you let us help you.Peace and love,Adafruit Support

The company has absent customer support. Customer support consists of a public forum where customers can ask for help from other users or official support staff. I had an issue regarding one of their in-house products (an Adafruit Feather RP2040 ThinkInk) and its support with a display that is listed as compatible on their GitHub page (a WaveShare 4.01-inch ACeP 7 color eink display). The microcontroller and display did not function together and would instead both heat up to a temperature that could cause skin ***** and in the worst case could potentially start a fire if left unattended. The product is designed to be used in conjunction with an optional rechargeable lithium battery, which with the issue mentioned could pose a significant safety risk. There was no response to my customer support request and I was not at the very least guided toward sources that might allow me to fix the issue on my own or get in contact with someone that can help. My request was originally filed on the 12th of October 2023 and has not been answered by official Adafruit support staff within 30 days as of the 11th of November 2023. I only managed to get another user to give me basic troubleshooting advice, which ultimately didn't resolve the issue. I still have not received any word that my problem was going to be looked at or if they potentially needed more information. In contrast, the company of the display I used (WaveShare) contacted me within two days of my customer support request and at the very least told me that they couldn't help me due to using a product they didn't officially support, instead recommending me to use one they did officially support. The only positive I have for this company is that my order was fulfilled in its entirety.

Person is asking for support for a non-Adafruit product which is *** not be supported, Adafruit does not sell / support or own WaveShare products, and it could very well be that the WaveShare display is not compatible with the microcontroller and the power supply is being short circuited. Not all EInk displays are the same pinout - Please check pinouts and power capabilities before connecting two electronic components together!

Adafruit has been voiding orders without explanation and have not been replying to customer service inquiries. I tried placing an order for a raspberry pi 4 twice and both orders were voided with no reason why.

There is currently a Raspberry Pi shortage worldwide, there is a limit of 1 per customer, the person continues to attempt to order Raspberry Pi units, we do not accept orders for multiple Pi units, there is no order from this customer at this time, please do not attempt to order multiple Raspberry Pi unit so educators, makers, and young person can get them.

Good company. They don't let you rate their products, which means they do some pretty nutty things, but I've been overall satisfied.
