On 02/13/25, the power steering in my **** ***** failed. I contacted Scruggs Automotive and informed them I would be bringing the truck in for service. After looking over the vehicle, Scruggs determined that there were multiple steering component issues. Part of the issue was the power steering pump, which Scruggs stated was covered by the part warranty. However, Scruggs technician decided that they would not perform any engine work unless rat feces were properly cleaned from the engine bay. I informed them that it was not rat feces they were seeing but instead it was bird droppings. I was not aware of the droppings on the engine prior to breaking down. Pictures were taken and provided. I asked them what I was supposed to do, and they stated that I had to take the vehicle to have the engine bay cleaned prior to service. I was given no other choice but to drive away in my malfunctioning vehicle. I was unable to locate a place to clean the engine bay. I was then forced to take my vehicle to the dealer for repair. Scruggs breached the part warranty by refusing to perform the required power steering replacement. Due to their refusal, I had to pay out of pocket again to repair the power steering that would have been covered by the part warranty. The original cost was $299.15 for part and $453.75 for labor totaling $752.90. The dealer part cost for the power steering replacement was $307.86 and labor rate was $599.85. The labor rate was for 3 hours for part installation at $199.95 per hour. The total cost for the power steering replacement at the dealer was $907.71.
