I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the conduct of one of your agents, Brandon, who can be reached at ************. My interaction with him was utterly unacceptable.
I contacted your office to address a payment issue caused by fraud on my debit card, which led to the bank closing the card and, as a result, a missed payment. When I attempted to resolve this by explaining the situation, I was met with aggressive and threatening behavior. Brandon raised his voice, screamed at me, and even went so far as to threaten involving the authorities if I didn’t pay the debt immediately, which is completely inappropriate and, more importantly, illegal under the FDCPA.
His refusal to work with me to resolve the situation and his threatening behavior directly violate consumer protection laws, specifically citing **** v. Channer LLC. This behavior is unacceptable, and I expect better from a company that should be adhering to legal standards in all customer interactions.
I demand that this issue be addressed immediately, and I request a call from an executive within the company, not a supervisor who may be connected to or biased toward these agents. I am prepared to provide more detailed information, including legal citations, once I receive a response from a qualified representative.Business Response

I was contacted in March, 2023 by Stephanie with ** ******** ***** regarding a debt I owed. The debt is legit. Stephanie claimed she was trying to save me from going to court. I signed a payment plan that was sent to me by **** ***** with ** ******** ****** I completed the payment plan on February 10th, 2024. I do have the signed contract. The payments were debited from my account from Channer LLC. Today, I received a phone call (as did my ex-husband which is a clear violation of the FDCPA), from someone who first claimed to be Dan P***** then changed his name to Steven B****, with **** ***** ******** ********* His voicemail stated that I had to call him back regarding my account with the debtor. Mr. P*****/B**** informed my ex-husband that he needed to talk to me about setting up a payment plan. The number we were called from had a local area code. The call back number is ************. I called the number and someone named Nathan answered who then put me on hold to talk to Steven B****. He was polite at first and told me that I was doing a great job of paying off my debt but that I needed to set up more payments to finish paying off the debt and that I owed another $1,600. I told Mr. B**** that I completed my payment plan on February 10th, 2024. He told me that I most certainly did not and when I told him that I did, he replied with "I am not here to argue with you. We will see you in court". Again, clear violation of the FDCPA.
I do not know what Channer LLCs involvement is in this, but I am suspicious that ** ******** *****, Channer LLC, and **** ***** ******** ******** are one in the same. I am asking that Channer LLC provides proof of legitimacy and provides me with documentation that my debt is paid in full.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.I made all of my payments according to the payment plan agreement that was emailed to me and signed. I have the document. In addition, the person I spoke with on the phone on 2/20 claimed I still owed $1,600. He didn’t give me an opportunity to provide details of the payment plan nor did he explain why he didn’t feel my account was settled or offer any documentation, rather he threatened to take me to court and hung up. Channer LLCs collection efforts are abusive, deceiving, and violate the FDCPA. I am exercising my right to request a cease and desist.

Client: Documentation of the settlement offer sent to customer, few days before setting up partial arrangement towards settlement. Settlement are usually broken up into the maximum of 10 payments. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. The argument that payment plans are set up in increments of 10 payments is weak and was never explained to me. Nor is it standard practice. In addition, Mr. P*****/B**** stated I still owed $1600. I completed my agreed upon payment plan and that is where I stand on this matter.

Debt collector making false claims that my debit card has been reported stolen. Left me a voicemail stating to contact them before they reach out to authorities however the card is active and not stolen. I haven’t even used that card in some months to pay as I’ve had a different card on file.Business Response

On 7/12/2023 I received a voicemail from Channer llc litigation attorney Mary c***** notifying me that I was going to be brought up on felony fraud charges and a lien on my property could follow if I didn’t pay an old debt owed to credit ninja. I called mary at her office and she reiterated what was said on the voicemail. I became very scared about the threats of fraud against me and that my wife was being included in this litigation. I was told that I needed to pay a little over 3200.00 dollars within next 30 minutes or they would file the law suit against me. Being scared about the call I ended up paying 1666.00 to Mary C***** from Channer llc. I asked if I could get a receipt of my payment and they said they would email me to sign some document(s) and I have received no email(s) regarding this matter. I believe I have been scammed and harassed by this company and they illegally obtained money from me and my wife.Business Response

I have a receive a call of this company which is Channer LLC back in April 2023 claiming I've owed $483.00 from the original creditor ***************** I had spoke to them and agree to pay off the payment plan. Last May, I had problems trying to reach it when I needed to update my payment method. I had call them several calls and led me straight to their voice-mails during their business hours with no calls. Next week after, this company call me and got my message and got it resolve. On June 30, ******* **** at Channer LLC left me a voicemail around 10:21 a.m. stating that my payment is due that day and was attempting to take my payment. He also stating that if they don't hear back from me by 2PM ET, they were gonna take further legal actions. I was at work the whole day when they left me a voicemail until around noon. I a I had called Channer LLC after I had read their voicemail and call them right away and that I needed to change my debit card information after it got stolen few days ago. And the same issue with them before. Every time I tried to call them, leaving me threating voicemail and have not be able to reach them during business hours. ******* **** told me to call him and still have not answer my calls. This is unaccepted. How are y'all expect me to make my payment if y'all not answering your clients phone calls? I am believing that I'm being scammed. if this true, I want my full refund back so I can go with a different agency and get my situation resolve and done with. So frustrating that I cant reach someone at this when I need to talk to.Business Response

I was called and harassed by ********* from this company. She told me I was going to have my wages garnished if I didn’t pay toward an old loan by the end of the month. I set up a payment plan was willing to pay but asked for paperwork first. Though I gave my card information I paused it until I got confirmation this is legit, unfortunately many companies have been scamming. I never received an email so I called on 3/30 informing I didn’t get it I got a call back on 3/31 and she REsent the email I never got She then continued to threaten me, my mom called as well on my behalf after that’s she called and said “ due to your moms shenanigans I am going to court” she said she was signing off and I had no chances to pay. Out of frustration I responded to the email I just received and complained of harassment. She called me again and left a VM saying I lied on a recorded line and threatening me again though I did not lie, I never got the email when I was supposed to get it I got it after she called back. And they tried to charge my card before I signed giving authorization which does not seem legal.Business Response

I was contacted on 1/13/2023 by Denise from ** ******** about a debt owed to ******** **** *from 2014. I happily agreed to the settlement she offered of $518.08 as payment in full as I had been trying to find the party owning this debt to pay them for years unsuccessfully. I was promised an email within a couple of hours after the payment was made from ******* ***** and 7 days later I have not received anything via email nor have I been able to reach Mr. H***** via phone. Ironically, I learned the same day my son was in contact with Mr H**** about a debt he owed from the same year. I actually urged my son to call the number Denise gave me the week prior along with her threats of court and lawsuits if he didn’t respond to her immediately. She first contacted me multiple times claiming she could not reach him nor was he home to receive information that she was attempting to hand deliver. (Both made no sense.) It is obvious that Channer LLC is not a legitimate debt collector as they have failed to provide me with proof of payment in the form of writing thus not providing ******** **** of ****** ***** any proof either. I demand a refund of my funds in the amount of $508.08 immediately!

in July 2021 I received threatening calls from a representative of a supposed law firm who was threatening to subpoena me for a court case stating I owed money to ********* ******* ** ****** which I attended and graduated in 2011. I asked for proof of debt which they declined to provide, said that I have received plenty of proof from all the notices they sent to an old address I haven't lived in for 5 years, and harassed me to pay a settlement now or go to court. I ended up paying them a settlement of $251 for a supposed debt.
After I paid I had asked for company information they were not able to provide me an address or website to their company stating that they did not have a law firm website or could not give me a physical address due to security purpose.
I believe I have been scammed. The law firm provided no notice of release of liability.
December 16th I received a call from Lexi M******* from ******* *** ***** Law firm requesting a payment for the amount of $1000 claiming that it was for the debt from ********* plus interest.
I explained I already paid the debt and they sent me paperwork for the full amount because I had no release of liability for the Debt.
I received a call January 2023 from ******** ***** requesting the same amount! I have tried to call Channer llc on the phone number that is associated with my bank statement charge for the original payment and no one will answer or return my voicemails.
I would like my release of liability so that I can show I have paid my debt.Business Response
