I called Got Junk on 5/13/25 to remove a heavy chiminea from my backyard. I was told I could not have an estimate until the crew arrived, but that it was based on number of items and the space it would take up in the truck. Since it was not that large, that seemed reasonable. When they arrived and said they could indeed take it, THEN they informed me that there was $183. flat fee just for coming out. Had I known that I would not have told them to come out. Anxious to resolve the matter, I agreed, and I paid. HOWEVER, AFTER SOME THOUGHT, I realized that the policy of sharing the minimum fee AFTER getting here was a pretty lousy way to do business. I think they should be required to state that minimum ON THE INITIAL PHONE conversation. Can you help? Can I get a fair adjustment? Or can they be forced to change that practice to help the next unsuspecting senior citizen or otherwise limited person? Thank you.

Hello, It is our standard practice, as is all other competitor removal companies, to not quote removals until we see each unique removal onsite and in person.  Our website clearly articulates a FREE, no obligation estimate.  If we do any removal at all, even one small item, we charge at our location a $169 fee plus state taxes.  This customer, as customers we have, are free to say no thank you to the quoted rate and have us leave, without any obligation or fee.  She asked for a removal quote, we gave it, she asked for the work to be done and it was, and she paid at the end, per our normal procedures.  Unfortunately, buyer's remorse and hindsight thinking, is not a responsibility of our company or ours removal teams. We were happy to help with her removal, and appreciate her connecting with us, but she agreed to a quoted rate and we provided the service, so nothing is going to be done on our end.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.   This is not OK.  I want every consumer to know that base price PRIOR to arrival.  If I can't get an adjustment, so be it.  But someone, and I was HOPING it was the BBB, should enforce the "be transparent rule" about minimum fees.  It is total **.  Regards,  ****** ******
