On 2/26 i received a call from Tori W***** threatening to come to my house and job to serve me papers and to give a specific phone number to call. I called and spoke with Lisa who was very rude and demanded that i needed to make a payment that same day, so i did in fear. I did another payment a month later and now my payment didn’t go through for 209.50 because i dont have the funds right now. i let Lisa know that and she didn’t care she said i needed to pay something. They called again today stating they will be coming to my house to serve me. She scheduled a payment for the end of this month for $400 that i cannot make since i am financially struggling. Im nervous that they will come to my house or job. I am willing to go through a payment plan but with a legitimate company and lower payments. They keep calling, harassing me and threatening me. I need it to stop nowBusiness Response

I had an account with ***** ***** *****, which I later found out is not legal in Texas. Although tribal loans in general are legal, they must still be registered with the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner which ***** ***** ***** is not. They then sold my debt to Great Lakes and I received a call stating that they would be serving me with legal papers the next day to take me to court. This was the first time I had heard from them. I immediately called back and set up a payment plan with extremely high payments bi-weekly. They let me know that if I didn’t make a payment that day then they would assume I was unwilling to work with them. According to the FDCPA debt collectors MUST send you a debt validation letter within 5 days of the first contact, which they have still failed to do even though it has been 11 days since their initial contact where they threatened to have me served. They use scare tactics to get people to pay immediately whether they can afford it or not.Business Response

Good morning,
Unfortunately, Great Lakes is a payment processor. We do not make outbound calls nor collect on debt. It looks like the account is placed with **** *********. We have removed any future payments from being processed.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Great Lakes removed my future payments even though I did not ask them to do so. They have now put me in a position to once again be harassed and threatened with legal action. They attached my payment schedule which I clearly stated that I signed at a very high bi-weekly rate due to threat of legal action. Now I have to do extra leg work to avoid being harassed and threatened since I no longer have an active payment plan due to Great Lakes choosing to do whatever they want.
Regards,
****** ******

They claim they do not make outbound calls, however the person that called threatening legal action was not with **** *********. I only got in contact with **** ********* after calling the number that was given to me by the person threatening legal action. Also, Great Lakes cancelled my payment plan without me asking them to do that, or my permission so they have now opened me back up to more issues since there is now not a payment plan on record.Initial Complaint

I am an 85 year old widow and have been in and out of the hospital for several months. I finally got to be at home for some extended time. Since being at home I have had help going over my business matters with my brother. While going over my bank statements, my brother asked me what was the charges to Great Lakes Processing Services. I said I have no idea. I have never heard of them. He said they have been using your credit card number and charging on your account since April 2024. They have made five withdrawals from your account which total $2141.93the first withdraw was 04/04/24 and the last withdraw was 12/30/24. I asked the bank what this was and they said someone has your credit card number and I need to contact them. So, I looked up their number and talked to about five different folks and they all said that they were a collection agency. I asked who they were collecting for. They said they could not tell me. I went back to the bank, and they, like me have never heard of a collection agency that would not say who they were collecting for, and why would they be making withdrawing from my account five times? I put a hold on all my banking withdraws and the bank is going to contact Visa. All five of these withdrawals were unauthorized. If I don’t hear from Visa soon, I will contact a lawyer. I’m contacting BBB because folks should know about this company and be on the lookout for Great Lakes Processing Services.Business Response

I was contacted by an Anthony M******* ###-###-#### at 9:35am on 10/23/2024. Coincidently he also called my parents and left voicemails with them at the exact same day and time. He left a vague voicemail to me stating my name and that I needed to call ###-###-#### regarding a “file” and that I had until 10/25/2024 to make contact. I called both numbers. The **** number is for something called The Qualification Team. The **** number sends you to a place that doesn’t give out their name but states it’s for a debt collection and they don’t have anyone by the name of Anthony. I then spoke with a Brian and he then verified my name, date of birth, last four of my social, my mailing address and employer then proceeded to tell me this was in regards to collect a debt that I owe. Beings as I do in fact owe this debt I was worried. He then pressured me into setting up a payment plan making me pay anything today (10/24/2024) after paying $34.95 ($25+$9.95 processing fee) I had the suspicion this was fraud and a scam. These people are obtaining our personal information and using against us to make a monetized gain. I also had this same issue three months ago with an Andrea G***** ###-###-####, *************. Enough is enough. Get real jobs and stop scamming people!Business Response

This morning I received a call from an unknown number saying they were calling to serve me legal documents through a process server. They called during the time of the death of my sister and me dealing with a lot of duress. I am not sure even what this debt is for. I am currently not working because I was taking care of my sister. I don’t recall setting up a payment agreement and today I see a $209.50 charge attempt on my card. I am struggling to regain my footing and don’t know again what this debt is for. I spoke with a process server, then they gave me a phone number to call and said to call the firm and see if we can work something out before they have to serve me. I called the number and got bullied into setting up a payment plan with Great Lakes by threat of court as I am trying to get my life back in order. After looking into it I am very worried I was lied to and tricked into setting up a payment plan I cannot afford to keep up with. The lady was very rude and threatening the entire conversation and kept asking for personal information over the phone. I do not want to be contacted by anyone from this company ever again. If the original lender has not even bothered to reach out to me why are they hiring this unproffessional group of scam artists to harrass people? This is acceptable to prey on people. Please provide me with the original debt.Business Response

A company named Great Lakes Processing called me back in November 2023 and said I owed to a certain company, which I can't remember the name, so I set up a payment plan and they started withdrawing $152.28 from my checking account on November 20, 2023. Today I wanted to look up their number to ask how much I still owe and when I searched Great Lake Processing, I read that it was a scam. I've been paying $152.28 for 8 months totaling $1,218.24.Business Response

I have been receiving an influx of phone calls from a company called Great Lakes Processing. The woman on the phone named Kim proclaims that she is representing the ****** ********** ******* ********. She calls leaving a message about a payments that are needed to be made for my account. In my knowledge, I don't have an account with Great Lakes Processing. She calls at least once or twice in the morning, and then another woman calls my phone right after; proclaiming that she'll come to my house and serve payments. I receive the email that have the agreed payment arrangement. I have sent the company over $40 dollars in the last two months, due to the hard financial times. I would like someone to provide proof that I have an account with them, along with a link to a website to show my balance.Business Response
