About two months ago I purchased a set of supposedly new tires from Dunn Tire on Sheridan Drive in Amherst. On the 17th of June my upper left tire opened up a hole on the sidewall facing inward, I was on the highway with other cars and my tire started to rapidly deflate. I was able to safely pull into a gas station and call a tow truck, who was able to drop my car off for repairs to be completed the next day. The tow truck and subsequent repairs of my tire add up to over $350. While Dunn Ture did offer a warranty and I didn't take it, the product still shouldn't have had such a short lifespan for a tire.Business Response

Although we apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused the customer, the customer was offered road hazard coverage which would have covered the tire in full and was declined by the customer. We as a company only sell new product and rarely see anything that has a safety/quality defect. It is more likely that damage occurred to the tire under normal driving conditions which lead to the failure. Some tire manufacturers do offer replacement coverages on their tires and if the customer stops back at any of our locations, we would be happy to contact the tire manufacturer to inquire about any warranty that may be due.Initial Complaint

I have been to this store many times and I keep wondering why I go back. I think it's convenience and price. Every time I go for a seasonal tire changeover it takes an hour and a half and I have to tolerate a waiting room with *** News. They always push extras on me which I never take.
This last time will be my last! After I had the changeover to my summer tires, the next day one of my tires was losing air. I had to fill it up and 3 days later the low pressure light was on again. This happened 3 times and I finally took it in as they obviously didn't seal it right. They looked at it and showed me a crack in the rim.
When I told them the tire was holding air before I took it in to them, they told me it was just a coincidence. I'm sure they cracked the rim when they changed the tire over but they are not willing to admit it. I would have known if I hit a pothole big enough to crack a rim. Now I am out $300 for a new rim.
I bought a new rim and had the tire put on it by another business. They showed me the rim with the marks from a tire machine right where the crack was. Proof that it was caused by Dunn Tire. I have tried numerous times to contact the regional director and although he claimed to the BBB that he has been trying to contact me, I have not had an email nor a phone call from anyone at Dunn Tire despite me giving them my email and phone number. They are obviously avoiding me because they know they are guilty and don't care enough about the customer to make things right.Business Response

Our Area Manager made multiple attempts to contact customer via both email and phone. Was finally able to speak with the customer last week, and although it is impossible to crack the wheel using modern tire equipment, we have offered to reimburse the customer in good faith. My sister went to Dunn Tire McKinley parkway, for an alignment assessment and car was fine for alignment so I took car to same Dunn tire a week later. I had made an appointment for tires and the alignment. I showed the worker the paperwork from the week before and the car was brought into the garage for tires and alignment. After they put the tires on the car another worker told me that the car needed a part and would not do alignment until part was fixed. They showed me a 10 second Shakey video of said part. I asked why no one said anything about the problem a week before and showed him the paperwork from first check. His response was " I don't know " and said that they would fix it which would have brought cost to over $ 1000.00 dollars. I said no. And complained about sticking me with tires I wouldn't have bought and he kept trying to get me to pay for work I know that the car doesn't need. I kept telling him " you stuck me with new tires I wouldn't have purchased that are now going to get ruined because you refuse to do the wheel alignment. I said I know now your not going to take the tires off and put the old ones back on are you , I now have to pay these tires. So I was forced to pay for tires that are now going to get ruined and no wheel alignment. Tires I wouldn't have purchased. So they ripped me off for tires and didn't do an alignment on a car they new nothing was wrong with in order to do work on the car it doesn't need. And the cost would have been more than double what I was quoted. Which was about $480.00 (quoted price) for tires and alignment. So I got lied to , paid for tires I wouldn't have purchased and didn't get the wheels aligned. And the price went from $ 480.00 for alignment and tires to $498.00 for just tires and no alignment. Tires guaranteed up to 50000 miles were replaced in March 28, 2025 after being deemed safe and functional in November of 2024 resulting in a total of 738 miles driven in 4 months. This occurred when car was in for oil change. Car also was refilled for two oil changes with synthetic oil when it had run specifically 5W20 for the life of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle did not have the undercarriage engine cover secured following servicing on March 28, 2025 resulting in an emergency visit to a service station. In four years, the car has required repeated servicing for brakes, loose calipers, a master cylinder, valve stems, two batteries. When brought to the attention of Dunn Tire, no response was received, management acted very nervous and written complaint to main office was ignored. I seek a refund or replacement of tires equal to or better than the substandard Crosswinds marketed by chain stores since the tires I had were supposed to be top quality. If replacement is not available, a refund will be accepted however, I will not return to Dunn Tire, West 12th Street in Erie, PA.Business Response

I brought my 2024 ****** ********* to swap out my snow tires and for an inspection.
I brought the car to the Camillus Dunn Tire #9512 at around 3:30 for my 4 pm appointment. Once I was checked in , one of your associates checked me in and then went outside to look at my car...at which time no issues were noticed.
At 4:42 I received a text that the car would not pass inspection because of a cracked windshield and ripped windshield washers.
Obviously I was shocked as I had not seen a crack in the windshield while driving or any time, now did the associate who first checked my car during check in.
I came back to check out my car and there was a huge, long crack across the bottom of the windshield, so big that there would have been no way to not have seen it. One of your associates , Nicholas B*******, agreed that it was a huge crack and very noticeable. When I questioned why the first gentleman didn't notice, he did not respond and walked away ,so I too left.
I am requesting that this be looked in to via cameras, or whatever you can because I do not believe it was cracked when I brought it in .
It was also stated that it would have failed anyways because one of the wiper blades was shredded , and they clearly were not .
Please reply ASAP to let me know how this will be handled.

This is a follow-up from the first BBB complaint I filed against Dunn Tire at Main and Transit rd. In Clarence, NY. I purchased two new front tires from Mike G***, the store manager. I have had nothing but problems and avoidance since my first BBB complaint closed a couple months ago. Mike did apologize, acknowledge they did damage my car by mistake. BUT the solution he offered was installing 2 new back tires at no cost. OR paying a dealership to fix the damages on my car. I don't understand how that will make my horrible experience at Dunn Tire better? If he was sincere, he shouldn't have made me choose. Nonetheless I have contacted Mike over 20 TIMES since OCTOBER 2024 to try to get my car fixed. When calling the store they say he is not available, or most commonly I get a voicemail with the greeting saying a different business name? Mike finally messaged me back mid December 2024 saying he was sick. I gave it time because of the holidays in December also. But no contact since. I am so upset. I have never tried so hard to fix something that I didn't cause. I don't know what to do. The district manager said I have to speak with Mike G***, but he won't reply. Should I get a lawyer? I have attached pictures of the damage and also some screenshots of some of the messages between Mike and I. Please help!!Business Response

We have made multiple attempts to resolve the customer's concerns in house with no resolution. Our Director of Operations has talked to the customer as has the Store Manager. At this point due to the back and forth and the extent of the customer's request for repairs, we have submitted this as a claim to our internal claims team (Incident # **********) and they will work with the customer from here. The Claims team will contact the customer directly.

I paid Dunn Tire $1,228.00 for 4 tires on 12/17/2024, and I was due a refund of $186.63. As of 01-14-2025, when I call them, I just keep getting a runaround. They tell me that they have to credit my credit card, but they never do.Business Response

There was a lack of communication with our staff as to who this was being handled by, we have since cleared that up and the Store manager, Andy L****, is handling this now. We are sorry for the inconvenience and expressed that to Mr *****. On 1/11/25 around noon Andy did issue a credit to Mr *****' credit card on Invoice # ******. I understand his frustration but we need Mr ***** to stay in contact with us so we can assure this went through for him. On 12/11/24 I went to Dunn Tire for tire rotation and inspection. They claimed that my truck that I have had for 5 yrs failed inspection for brakes and aftermarket window tint. They said that it needed brakes all the way around. The Rear brakes were replaced last year, and the only requirements that NYS has for disc brake pads are that they are not broken, not down to the sensors or metal to metal. This was clearly a money grab by the people at this facility. Last time I was at this facility they lost my wheel lock key. I was told that they would reimburse me for the lost wheel lock key which they did not do.Business Response

The brakes on the ********* due to condition of the rotors. The rust extends from the edges and go directly into the path of the brake pads friction zone. In the rusted area it is visible that there at pieces of the face of the rotor missing and broken off which will impede braking ability and be a safety concern. Cite section 79.21, pages 37 and 38 of New York state inspection regulation manual. The truck also failed for the aftermarket tint installed on the vehicle at the time of inspection. Window tint must meet regulations in section 79.21, pages 45 and 46 of New York state inspection regulation manual. The tint was well below the threshold dictated in those pages. We have made three attempts to reach out to the customer and have not been successful in talking to them.Initial Complaint

I respect dunn tire for their tires. I have had multiple issues with in the last year and continued on 12/4/24. Everytime I come in to dunn tire for work and my regular mechanic isn't there problems happen. First was tires put on backwards, replaced rear end parts that didn't need replacing which dealership got involved and still not settled, sway bar arms put on backwards, battery
installation not done right currently 12/4/24 i come in just for oil change it took 2hours 45mins. The mechanic takes it upon himself to go though my car telling me my rear wiper is ripped which is BS I don't use it during winter cause if freezes plus I had it replaced by dealer not to long ago. Then tells me my rear end needs work when dunn tire already did my rear end work including alignment b4 end of summer. Then tells me censors are bad. I brought my car in w no lights on my dash nothing. My car was inspected by another shop nothing was wrong Everything was tightness issues. If anything is wrong with my vehicle Dunn tire will fix everything for free. Cause there was nothing wrong w my vehicle at all just oil change. Dunn tire did my rear end parts everything better be warrantied. Dunn tire already cost 700 for replacing of part already which the dealership (East Aurora **** **** **** *******) know about but still has not been settled which I'm pissed about .this all happen when my regular mechanic isn't in. This happened at the McKinley parkway shop. Something always goes wrong there. I know for a fact nothing was wrong with my vehicle b4 I went to dunn tire 12/4/24 just for oil change. Went in for too tires said car needed an alignment when the vehicle just had an alignment performed. Didn’t put away spare tire or lube tire chain went back twice did this and even the wheel fell off causing damage to the wheel bearing lug studs and lug nuts 5 per axle on the drivers front wheel came off wasn’t torqued tightened properly. Shop denied it didn’t wanna do anything but put a used wheel and aftermarket lug nuts on vehicle causing over 2700$ in damages and timeBusiness Response
