Hired an excavation company to install a septic system and water line from well to camp . He was gonna do a few other things . Also put a stone pad for a cabin that wasn’t not wide enough. He left without completing the job and has half our deposit. Definitely did not do half the work and caused a lot of damage. One being cut into our brand new underground cable for electrical. He had it repaired by getting it spliced which we don’t want that . We had a brand new line that’s what we should get and now the breaker blows all the time . He moved our shed and damaged that. Also was to move tree stumps to the back of the cabin and left most of them in front. It is gonna cost us a ton of money to correct his mistakes and we have ask him for his insurance and he won’t give it to us.

start with pad for the new building.  quoted, 18 x 46'. the pad is a little bit bigger than that.  and is perfectly level.  i am going to send pictues.  when i first started the job, the first question i asked was where the underground power line was and was told it was right along the driveway. when i excavated for the new septic tank, i installed exactly where the engineer told me to put it.  pictures to follow.  the warning tape would have told me there was a buried electric line below. there was none as you see in the pictures.  that there was a buried line below that is required.     I hired an electrian, purchased all the required items to fix the line. underground waterproof connectors, new conduit, and grounding rods.  I paid the electrician, excavated a new trench,  paid the electrical inspected, and had the power hooked back up by the National Grid.  When they complained to the codes enforcement officer, they were told it was their responsibility to know where the line was.  His name is : ******, number:  ! *** *** ****.  the electrical inspectors is: ***** ********, His number is :  * *** *******.  without the proper inspection report, the power company would not have trurned the power back on.  there was no damage done to the electric box or and fixtures inside the camp.  **** the electrician is a licensed electrician.  To make room for the new camp, I took down all the trees, removed the stumps and put them exactly where they told me to put them.  I leveled the new site, hauled in gravel, topped it with crusher run, and tamped the entire pad as you will see in the pictures.  there were no stumps left in front of the property.  see pictures.  i did install the septic tank, installed the pad  for the new camp, removed the trees and stumps, so idid a lot more than what their deposit covered.

I thought I had a picture of the 1000 gallon septic tank, but I don't. It was set in place, perfectly level and observed by the codes officer.  Ty he total ou of my pocket to repair the electric service was around $1450.00.  thank you, ***

    Pictures

    1. and 2.: You'll see there was no red underground burial tape used.  The first pictures were preparing the site for the gravel pad.   There was no underground red burial tape.  If there was I would have seen it and stopped digging.

    3.  Tamping the pad

    4. and 5. New electric conduit and wire. All inspected by the electrical inspector

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Responding to Mr. B******’s responses: As for the pad for the new cabin he Did Not go out wide enough . Our cabin is 14x40 and was to have 2 feet of stone on each side past cabin and he did not do that. Now this caused the cabin not to be level. You can see in the attached photos with his own marker how far he should have gone out ( steak in ground) this is now causing us to hire a contractor to raise and lift cabin and add stone .

: As for when Mr B****** was first shown the underground cable was back in March were you could clearly see the path were it was dug . Nothing was ever said about cable line running along side of driveway. It did take him three months to start the work as he had many excuses. Mr B****** did move the shed and unhooked the electrical , that ran from the underground cable line and moved shed to other side of driveway ,,,So he did very much know again were underground cable was . On top of cracking the shed when moving it and causing the doors to now become difficult to shut and bending the metal roof. He also just tossed the conduit and wires that went to shed on the ground. He should have rehooked back up to shed . He also had a copy of our engineers plan. Which did state the actual layout may very.

As you can clearly see in the photos from the work done by my contractor **** **** Electrical in Utica NY that the electric box was in perfect shape til Mr B****** and his workers worked on it . So look at the before and after pictures and you can see why we are getting blown breakers . You will see wires coming out of the ground, wires just tossed and we still don’t know what is supposed to come out of the one side of the box outside as it was striped and nothing hooked back up . As this is the work Mr B****** does. They spliced our brand new underground cable and now we run the microwave and light on and breaker blows . ( our first cabin is now red )

: As for the stumps yes Mr B****** did leave a ton of stumps in the front of our property and our new contractor did take care of that for us. Photos and contract attached. We also have a sheriff report and they took a ton of photos and I’m sure after looking at their photos you will see the mess he left us. I did attach the sheriff case number. Also some of their photos I have attached. They have a date on them 9/3/24 .

Mr B****** decided to take his big excavator off our property that sat there all summer long and he would pull it out for other jobs he worked on so I guess we were his parking . He then decided not to finish our job and left without telling us . Not only did he take our money he left us damaged property and unfinished work . We tried working with him for several months . We are very happy with the new contractor who finished the septic in less than a week and the mess with the stumps. Now we have to finish the well and power back to the shed . We are not sure if the power is working at the well after the line was cut but once they install pump we will find out .
: Mr B****** took almost six months to do this job and he came up with a ton of excuses as we have in texts if you need them. This job he told us would have and should have been done the beginning of summer!
We just feel that contractors like him need to be stopped ! Contractors like him ruin it for other hard working contractors that ask for money up front !

    Regards,

    **** *********

When the engineer did the drawings the only thing that was not there was the cabin . The engineer was shown where underground cable  line  was,, just like Mr B******  was shown. That is why in his notes he states drawing my vary , because cabin was not there when he did his plans.
