Barden Tree Services cut down a tree and ground down 4 stumps in the backyard of my rental property on 2/23/24 (** ******** **). While grinding the stumps a river rock in the soil was shot as a projectile and struck the garage patio window breaking the glass. Per discussion with Ed S*********** it was agreed that Barden Tree Services will replace the glass. Due to no motion on replacing the glass and to expedite the process to ensure this does not get pushed away farther I notified Ed on 3/8/24 that I will find quotes from reputable glass companies to help with the process. 2 quotes were sent to Ed on 3/13/24 and a response of him being out of the country was received and that it will have to wait until he is back in town the week of 3/18/24 to hear back from him. Today is 3/24/24 and no plan has been established and my calls have not been returned as I have tried to reach out through phone call and text message. As a result of the lack of communication I believe that it will be best to have the BBB facilitate the repair of the broken glass as agreed with Barden Tree Service. I will attach 2 of the quotes that I have obtained for a replacement of the broken "tempered" glass which. I would like for the glass to be replaced by a reputable glass company agreed between Barden Tree Services and I. The 2 companies I found are **** ****** ****** ** **** ***************************************** *** ********* ****** ************************************

    Business Response

    Date: 04/12/2024

BBB spoke to the business owner and the following was relayed: We were doing a stump grinding job at the property.  We didn't hear anything or notice anything but when he said that we caused the window break, I took responsibility.  No problem.  I told him to wait for better weather because the cold weather does not provide good conditions for window glass replacements.  I took responsibility right away and told me I would make it right.   I did have to advise him to please only contact me during business hours because he started calling me all of the time.  I never said I wouldn't take care of it, my understanding was that we agreed I would take care of when the weather broke.  I remained in contact with him but I did have to limit our communication to business hours only.   I contacted ******** ******** to replace the window.  But then the customer wanted a different company to do it.  At that point, I decided to contact my insurance company to file a claim because I thought that would be the best way to move forward for both of us.  My insurance company is now handling this for him.  My insurance company is ******** ******* ****** ********* ********  I'm on a job site right now, but as soon as I'm done I will email Kevin at BBB the claim number and the contact information so that BBB can provide that to this customer.   Moving forward, I ask that this customer work directly with my insurance company.  We will replace his window but communication moving forward will have to be between him and my insurance company. Thank you.
