(ALL DETAILS LISTED BELOW HAVE CORROBORATING PAPERWORK)On September 6, 2022, I CALLED the RESERVATION COUNTER, ************, to make a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express in *******, **. During this phone call I provided all required information to book a room and was sent an email with CONFIRMATION ITINERARY NUMBER **********. The booking was for 10/13/2022 check in and 10/14/2022 check out. When I arrived at the Holiday Inn in ******* on 10/13/2022 at about 4 PM I was informed by the front desk that the reservation had been cancelled. The front desk person reported that *********** had cancelled my reservation. I DID NOT USE *********** BUT RATHER THE RESERVATION COUNTER. A call to the Reservation Counter yielded that the reservation was STILL ACTIVE AND THE ROOM HAD BEEN PAID FOR. Clearly the information in the ***************** computer system was not matching up with Reservation Counter computer information. Exacerbating the situation was the report of the front desk that there were no rooms available. This required, with the assistance of my brother-in-law, the finding of another hotel in the area which still had available rooms. We were fortunate enough to find one. In summation the issues at hand are as follows:1) A reservation at the Holiday Inn in ******* was made and a confirmation email with number was received.2) *********** was somehow able to cancel the above listed reservation without notifying me or obtaining my permission with the complicity of the hotel.3) Reservation Counter still had the reservation "active" and showed the room had already been paid for.4) There were no other rooms available at the hotel.5) Initially the front desk person refused to assist me in finding another hotel and then finally relented and made one phone call to another Holiday Inn in another town. This "assistance was inadequate at best.6) My brother-in-law was able to locate another hotel with rooms available.

This guest had a reservation booked in August through ***********. It was canceled through CRS *********** systems because no one showed up. The guests arrived in Oct and we were sold out. My front desk helped him locate a hotel with availability, the **** number he called is not our hotel reservation systems line either, it's some random 3rd party website that is not affiliated with us at all directly at the hotel or IHG. The guest was not charged any money either. IHG.com is the best way to book a room at our hotel and the number **************.

It can be seen from the data above that there were TWO DISTINCTLY SEPARATE TRANSACTIONS.  The first in AUGUST and the second in SEPTEMBER.  The first in August WAS CANCELLED and cancellation fees were paid.  The second in September WAS NOT cancelled resulting in this dispute.  Once again, The RESERVATION COUNTER where the second reservation was made STILL SHOWED THE RESERVATION ACTIVE.  ********* is claiming that *********** cancelled the reservation which it had no authority to do.  ********* was negligent in accepting the cancellation.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

It appears that Holiday Inn is still mixing up the TWO occasions of reservations made at their hotel.  The FIRST reservation made WAS cancelled by me due to my sister-in-law coming down with COVID.  Documentation of this has already been provided.  The SECOND reservation made WAS NOT cancelled by me but by *********** and the ***** without my knowledge or approval.  Documentation of this has already been provided.  Finally, the phone number for the Reservation Counter was obtained from the web site of the Holiday Inn in question.  If the Reservation Counter is what the hotel claims, then why is the phone number for it on THEIR web site?
