We hired Ben D****, Get it done contracting, to replace a roof on a house we inherited. At that time he mentioned he also did interior remodeling which we also needed. We agreed to hire him for that as well. He finished the roof first. The original time frame he quoted us was 1 month for the interior. He gradually started showing up less and spending less time at the house working. The 2-3 other people he had working stopped coming. My husband offered to help him daily for a few hours to help move along the project. At the 5 month mark he was rarely showing up. One day he said he would be there in the afternoon then didn’t show or respond to messages. The following day we spoke in person and he stated he does not work for anyone or owe anyone explanations for not showing up. He also stated he did not feel the need to tell us what days he would be at the house working or what he would be working on and suggested parting ways saying he would give us some money back for the job being incomplete. We agreed, then he said he wanted to think about it and would have an definite answer that evening. We didn’t hear from him so my husband messaged the following night. He came and picked up his tools the next day and refused to warranty the roof that was now leaking claiming the leak was caused by a vent pipe my husband replaced. We have had 2 roof companies confirm that is not the cause of the leak and that he did things incorrectly. Since parting ways he was arrested for unrelated matters and brought to the jail where my husband works. Upon his release my husband contacted him asking about the money he owed us. He claimed my husband had him assaulted while in jail and that he wouldn’t press charges if we signed a paper freeing him of any further work on the house. Now he’s working on a house down the st with his fiancé. Since we did not agree to his request his fiancé now screams profanities at my husband any time he drives by. Police has been notified.
