On June 5 I contracted with Bryan Williams, owner, for three jobs on my 3 story brownstone house: repair and painting of wood trim including fascia, refinishing wood doors, and repair of brownstone stoop. Total cost was to be $10,740 and I paid him $5370. He said he would start either June 10 or 24. He did not, and I initiated a series of text messages requesting a start date. He either put me off, failed to show up when he said he would or didn't respond at all. He finally began work on July 30.
Between July 30 and today he repeatedly promised he would complete the jobs but worked a little less than 9 days and failed to complete any of the projects.
Finally, on November 15, when it became apparent that the outdoor painting season was over, I wrote to him requesting a partial refund of my down payment. I calculated the requested refund amount as a percentage of the work not completed as outlined in the attached letter.
Bryan has not responded to my letter or to a subsequent text.
I am an 81 year old single woman living on a fixed income and cannot afford to throw away almost $4000 - and the work still needs to be done. I have no desire to sue Bryan in small claims court and am hoping that you might intervene.
By the way, before hiring Bryan I did check his BBB rating it was fine and there were no adverse reviews.
