The house rented by my daughter through them was not what we expected. She waited to call them when we got home; due to so many families coming into the area for the baseball tournaments there were no other houses close by that we could have gone to (we needed a house w/4 bedrooms) so there was no reason to call while we were there.
If we could have found another house close by the playing field we would have done that but then we would have had to put out more money; we’re already in the hole for the estimated $3000 this house cost.
We would not have gone through Cooperstown Stay either seeing as it appears they are only interested in renting the property for the home owner and not the guest renting the house
The house had well water which we were told was tested (I’m assuming for bacteria) and we were told this in advance.
Unfortunate the water smelled so badly (sulfur smell) we could not drink or cook with it. When we showered we actually smelled afterwards. When I washed my hands I had to use hand sanitizer afterwards to take the smell of the water off my hands.
I won’t even go into what the glasses/cups/silverware/additional kitchen items looked like; we bought paper plates/forks/spoons/knives/glasses to use.
The owner of house stopped by to check water in the above ground pool. I alerted him to the smell of the water and asked him to come in to smell it. He refused. I shared with him that we owned a house with a well that had the sulfur smell and had an acid neutralizer tank installed to clear up the smell issue. He said he adds chlorine. Well that’s not working. Also mentioned the rust in the water as my clothes I washed had rust stains on them after washing. So we were not able to wash clothes. Again he wasn’t concerned.
The Cooperstown Stay did not offer any restitution in the form of a refund to my daughter for part of the stay (the rental contract was in her name); seems they only work for the home owner and not the renters
