May 13, 2024, *********************** and his worker attempted to seal coat my asphalt driveway. They used a patch material that clearly states only to use on spots up to 3 inches wide and 3 inches deep. They used this material on 8'x 10' section ruining the driveway. The driveway is not smooth at all and the product was used incorrectly. I've had multiple other companies here and they all said the same thing the driveway is ruined and only way to fix the problem is to remove the entire driveway and repave it. He also under quoted the job to get the work. Once half way through he said it's going to cost more because he needed more product and it's going to be more labor. He was extremely sloppy and messy I had to clean foot prints he left of seal coat on his shoes from pavers and the garage, he splashed seal coat on the siding.Do not use this guy for anything !

    Business Response

I was contacted by this ***** .. over on ******************** in **********, back in May. He told me that he had a new asphalt driveway and he wanted it seal coated.
I expressed to him initially, that there is no reason to sealcoat a driveway until it's a couple of years old. He told me that there was a problem with it and he wanted me to come over and tell him what I thought about it. I came over and saw that his new asphalt driveway was lacking in integrity up around the garage door area for maybe 40 square feet ( it was kind of pebbly lacking in probably enough tar..like the consistency of the asphalt..
it wasn't mixed well enough.. I don't know..but anyway he told me that the company that did the job installed the driveway on a cold day in October of '23. He said he since sued them for the job they did. I told him that if I seal coated it I couldn't promise him how that area would turn out.. so don't use me. Anyway I agreed to do the seal coating for $700. We completed the job on the appointed day in May, at which time he looked it over and said he wasn't satisfied with the area that was initially a bit disintegrated by his garage door.. although it looked much improved as far as I was concerned. He said he wasn't satisfied, and he knows of a product that can be tamped down over the area of concern. He told me to give him a price for doing that and he would supply the asphalt patch product. So like a week later as agreed we showed up and worked like All day spreading like 12-  14 containers of this asphalt patch product. It looked much improved after tamping it solid and flat across the entire area of concern. I stopped by the next morning to get my final payment since he wasn't home that day, and he tells me he doesn't like the job. Did I read the back of the can that stated that it shouldn't be used for more than a 3 foot square area? I told him I read the back, and I didn't think that that mattered. Besides, I said " you're the one who told me to use that product...I'm just looking to get paid now, and how don't you agree that that looks like a great improvement from when we started on your defective driveway. Anyway that was it .. and he refused to pay me.  in the course of conversing with him, he at no time complained to me that we did a sloppy job or got any sealcoat or footprints anywhere. That is just a lie.
Like a month later I find out that he is trying to sue my business insurance company.. He's a real sleazy character.
