Several months after Aliperti installed a new oak floor in (part of) our living room many of the boards started to lift up and tent. Over the next year **** came back several times to repair this problem but, after he left, the floor continued to lift and tent. At first **** blamed the fact that the living room wasnt air-conditioned, so we installed air-conditioning in the entire first floor of the house but the new floor continued to lift and tent. Then **** blamed the humidity (even though the room had been air-conditioned). When I pointed out that nearly the entire downstairs of the house had an additional ***** square feet of existing oak wood flooring and the only portion which was lifting and tenting was the 142 square feet which Aliperti had installed **** didnt have an answer. In addition, when the floors lifted I was able to see that Aliperti had left hundreds of the old nails from the original floors in place and had installed the new floor over the hammered and bent-over old nails (even though I had specifically asked that the old nails be removed before the new floor was installed and was promised that this would be done and failed to install a moisture barrier under the section of flooring which Aliperti had installed. Furthermore, nails were left which would snag ones socks when walking over them, and there was a liberal use of wood filler to fill cracks and gaps which is now falling out and looks quite terrible. To top it all off, although we estimated this part of the job cost us $1,992, **** told us that he would refund us $***** to compensate for the trouble wed been through (and to help us pay for the cost to tear up the Aliperti floor and replace it but shortly after this **** suddenly stopped communicating with us. Our experience with Craig Aliperti Wood Floors was one of poor craftmanship, shoddy work, and broken promises. We want a refund of $1,992.00 so we can tear this substandard work out and replace it.
