In order to get a service call from the company Mohawk Heating CO. INC. (Heating and Air-conditioning) located in Duanesburg, NY I paid $135.00. Jeffrey the technician made an appointment to come back the next day to service my air conditioner. They needed time to diagnose the problem. I explained to them multiple times I was on a fixed income, and I couldn’t afford a big bill. Jeffrey came back the next day and assured me several times before he left my home that day that I would have air conditioning. He did spend a long time trying to solve the problem. However, he did not fix it. He did not charge me at the time for he wanted to send one of his superiors over to check his findings.
Jeffrey’s superior did not find anything different then what Jeffrey had found. He did say if you add another part for $500.00 that it “might” make the air conditioner work but that it was not guaranteed.
When the bill came it was for $1,242.00 in addition to the $135.00 for the original service call. For $1,377.00 I received nothing, and my air conditioner still does not work. I feel that the Mohawk Heating CO. INC. (Heating and Air-conditioning) gouged a senior citizen, and I would not recommend them.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/01/2024

Mohawk Heating was called for a no cool service call to ****** *********'s home on July 12, 2024. Mohawk Heating attempted to repair the heat pump, but found it needed more than one repair, which was a substantial amount. The technician asked for a supervisor's opinion to confirm his findings, knowing the customer was on a fixed income. The customer did not want to complete the additional repair. The customer did call the office upset about the repair price and we are currently working with the customer on a resolution.  Mohawk Heating did receive the customers payment, but did not deposit the check from the customer in lieu of the service call resolution.
