On 6/9/2023 ***********************, General Manager of Your Choice Van Lines came to my house in *********** and arranged my move to Virginia. He gave me a binding price of $3,360.00. On 8-16-2023 the movers arrived and the price jumped to $11,700 after the truck was loaded. When I objected to the price and said it was binding *** said it was only an estimate.

I was attempting to contract a reputable mover. I thought the initial price "****" and "Max" **** me was reasonable. I was quoted a price of $1757.55 for a 2 bedroom apartment move 8 hours from PA to **. What I didn't realize is that this company uses a "bait and switch" sales tactic and I ended paying $4100 from my account and $200 in tips ($4300) total. The movers complained the whole time, did not finish the job (I have to hire new movers) and barely responded to me once they got the down money. I booked the move, and they gave me a 5 day window when it would arrive (It came on Sunday 9/3 so at least they were within the window). I must have called 6-7 times asking for an update and was totally ignored. Then I finally got a date but *** argued with me the entire time demanding cash on delivery. The issue I had is with the scam sales tactics they employ. Once they picked up my things, then they begin the scam. They hold your things hostage and demanded more money on two separate occasions. They damaged goods, lost items, and would not finish the job unless I gave them more money. They charged me 2x what it should have cost and threaten to keep your items if you don't pay them. I would like $2000 back, the cost of the new movers I have to hire, and the cost of the desk they ruined.

Job No: ********: I contracted for a move with Your Choice Van Lines and received an estimate of $1430. Based on the information provided by *** (my items would be picked up on Monday, June 26th, and delivered in ******* between June 30th and July 2nd), I purchased airline tickets to fly to ******* on June 29th, returning July 3rd. On the day of pickup, the movers showed up two hours late reeking of cannabis. Once the truck was loaded, the mover said that I had gone over the estimate and after speaking with ***, the new total cost would be $3820.*** said that he would "speak to the owners to see if he could get an additional discount" to bring the cost down. When I did not receive any further communication from *** about the cost, I sent him the following email on June 28th to which I received no response. I flew down to ******* as planned on June 29th with every expectation of having my things delivered today, July 2nd. Having heard nothing from Max ** either by phone or email ** I called him to find out what time the truck would be arriving. It was only then that he informed me that the truck would not be arriving. When I asked why I had not been informed, especially since he knew that I was flying down to ******* for the sole reason of meeting the truck, he refused to give a reason and hung up on me.
