On 7/11/2024, I ******* ****** contacted Senior Insurance Agent Shelly B*** W/ THE HOSELTON AGENCY, working w/ **** ********* CO. To inform Shelly of my new address along w/ informing paying the renewal for my renters' insurance. At the time of speaking w/ Shelly I (*******) was living @** ****** ** in Rochester NY. I did inform Shelly that I was moving boxes into the new home on *** **** **** **** and had not moved into the home until 8/1/2024. Shelly then stated to me of the price increase of the renters insurance into the new home. I didn't agree w/ the price increase. I then inform Shelly I would be seeking another Insurance Agency, but for not to leave everything as is until I (*******) contact her. Shelly was contacted by my new Insurance Agency on 8/1/2024 informing her (Shelly) that effective 8/1/2024 I ******* ****** was canceling my insurance w/**** *********. I contacted **** on 8/7/2024 on status of my refund for Renters Insurance, along w/ a portion of car insurance. I was then told by the Rep w **** that I had a balance due to **** of $44.00, It was explained to me by the Rep that the new policy for my new address was in effect. I than explained to the Rep that i was not living in the new home until 8/1/2024. the Rep spoke w/ an underwriter @ **** RE: this issue the underwriter than stated that they WERE NOT GONNA CHANGE THE INFO that Shelly had put into the computer!!! I than called Shelly back to inform her of what the Rep stated to me . Shelly than stated " THE COMPANY MUST HAVE CHANGED THE INFORMATION I HAD GIVE TO HER, & SHE (SHELLY) CANNOT CHANGE THE INFORMATION BEING THAT THE POLICY IS NOW CANCELD." THE PAYMENT DATE W/**** IS FROM 7/14/2024 - 8/14/2024. KEEP IN MIND I CANCELED ON 8/1/2024. AND NOW **** WANTS ME TO PAY THE INCREASE OF $44.00 IN ALL ACTUALITY **** OWES ME $44.00 OR MORE!!!! I REALLY BELIEVE THAT WAS " BAMBOOZLED " BY THIS AGENT/**** ********* CO.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/08/2024

As ******* wrote, she called us to change her address.  She states that she was moving boxes which indicates to us that she was indeed moving on July 11, 2024.  My agent, Shelly, changed the address on the renter's insurance as instructed.  Shelly then let ******* know that the auto rate would go up at the new address.  Bc ******* asked her not to push the auto address change through, Shelly did not.  Unbeknownst to us **** (the carrier) noted the discrepancy between the addresses and changed the address on the auto policy effective July 20.  ******* cancelled the policies Aug 1 and discovered that she owed money on the auto (due to the address change).  ******* called us and blamed us for the address change, but we did not make the change to the auto.  The policy is cancelled so we could not change the address in our system. However, I called **** this morning and asked them if they would make an exception and change the address back to the original address as of July 20. We are in the process of making a formal request with ****. ******* should be hearing from **** within the next week about a refund.

We would like to resolve this issue and thank you for your time in looking at information.  Riley Hoselton
